It sounds like you need to replace the lamp. Take the lamp assembly out and inspect it. It will have a white smokey look or may be cracked if it is bad.

The TV has sound, but no picture.
The lamp is the most common part that causes this symptom. If you have purchased a new lamp already, click on the “Signs of Lamp Failure” link below to check your lamp or contact who you purchased your lamp from for a warranty claim. Look at the indicator lights on the front of the TV and use our chart by clicking the link below to find out what error the TV is displaying to help you. If you have not purchased a new lamp, the lamp is the most common and cheapest repair for this symptom. A defective circuit board can also cause this symptom in which you should contact a certified/trained TV technician.
If your lamp shows any of the signs listed below, there is a high probability your lamp is defective.

I think that the pop you heard was an electrolytic capacitor blowing its top on the picture frame board. If you are able to check this for yourself by looking on the board for the one/s with a bulging top or are a brownish/black colour like something has caught fire. And also in this situation smell can be of great help as it will smell burnt out but PLEASE before putting your nose or anything else in the tv take all necessary precautions against electric shock and discharge any electrolytic capacitors in the vicinity. If you are not able to do this yourself find a competant technician. Hope this helps.

TOSHIBA 62HM15A NO PICTURE

Hello,

Have you tried checking the socket to make sure there is voltage present and that the contacts are making connection with the bulb. Sometimes melted plastic blocks the connectivity of the contacts of the bulb with the contacts of the socket. Use a voltmeter to check for the voltage on the socket contacts.

I hope this helps,

Toshiba tz50v51 popping sound

Possible problems: * The TV set may be unplugged. * A fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or switched off. * The remote control unit (RCU) may be disabled. Solutions: * Make sure the TV/VCR are plugged in and the wall switch is on. * Check the fuse or circuit breaker. Test the outlet with a lamp. * Replace the RCU's batteries: if this fails exchange the unit.
