Where would you find the defrost timer on a Maytag side by side model number MZD2766GEB?

you can not manually start a defrost cycle
go to the freezer and check the heater and bimetal they are in the evaperator coil if these parts check good then replace the adaptive defrost control

you cannot do this
just check the defrost heater and the bi metal, if they check good then the adaptive defrost control is bad

SOURCE: where is the defrost timer in a maytag plus side

It does not have a timer it has a defrost board it is in the top of the frig in the back right corner under light a thermostat cover in a box and no they can't be advanced or checked.If the element is good and the thermistor is good than the only thing left is the defrost board and usually it is the board hope that helps

SOURCE: Maytag MZD2766GEB refrigerator does not

to get to the adc board and it is common for these to go out , you have to grab the plastic cover from the very back of the cover and pull towards the front of the unit , you should see the slots your sliding it off , somtimes it is a bear to slide off..
then after that there are phillips screws going into the roof of the unit , you just have to loosen these and slide the entire control section to the right to unlock from cabinet.
you should see the adc now and its a tight squeez to remove and replace , make sure there is no power to the unit.

If this unit has the temp controls in the middle top of the fridge then it is in there.
