My Debt card was comprimized and I wish to update my account

Depends on the law where you are.

As a general rule the police have no power to interfere in a private or civil matter, including debt - unless they suspect the debt was rooted in criminal behaviour such as *****, like knowingly using a fake credit card or issuing a cheque knowing the account had no funds.

They could also act if they believe a breach of the peace or an assault will be the result if the debt isn't paid - in theory the police should be protecting you from such things but as they say, it isn't what you know as much as who you know.

It wouldn't be the first time the police have issued false warnings because they needed to do somebody a favour.

Remember that changing your credit card number is the same as getting a new credit card account. This does not alter your credit history. This will not raise your credit score. This will not relieve you of your debts. Your old account stays open until it is paid.
The ONLY way to change your credit card number is to get a new credit card account.
IF you wish to use the same finance company, you ask them to close the account first and start a new account.
It would be easier to apply for a different card (If you have a VISA with Chase, you could apply for a VISA with Capitol One or a MasterCard with CitiBank or even a MasterCard with Sears.)
Once you are approved for a new card (and it arrives) THEN close the account with your old card. You close the old account by paying the debt and then requesting the account to be closed.

Personally I consider it a very bad idea as you would loose control of the expenses and quickly find your self in unpayable debt as all debt would be on your card and account
Let the family members apply for cards in their own names so that they have to take responsibility for their expenses

Depends where you are, the size of the debt, and how much chance there is of recovering it.

Where I am (Aust), you get 80% up front, and the rest if the debt is recovered, all minus 1% to 5% of the total, depending on circumstances, that is, how much was it, and how much effort was required to recover the debt.

Instead of debt you can try posting credit., you may also try to purchase a game card for Facebook or Zynga with that debt card Gamestop, 7/eleven or Walgreens sell the game cards. GOOD LUCK.

Prepaid cards are for anyone who would rather avoid opening a bank account or risking to get in debt. Therefore they are very appealing for students, for example, who are too young to have established a credit history; or for working immigrants, who can this way easily send money back to their families.

OMG, You just posted you credit card info in the public forum. Call your credit card company as soon as you get this message and tell them your card has been comprimized and explain to them what happened.
