Dell no longer finds wireless networks

My girlfriend's Dell laptop no longer finds wireless networks. When I go to try and see the available network connections I only get two options: A 1394 Connection and the Local Area Connection. Neither of which allow the laptop to actually connect wireless to the network. The laptop can get onto the Internet once it's connect via an Cat-5 cable. Other than that, it's a no-go. I've tried myriad things, including disabling the 1394 connection - something I read on some forum. Might you be able to offer some ideas/assistance? Thanks.

I have an older dell desktop with a pentium4 and runs on XP. It has a Dell truemobile 1180 USB Adapter that connects to wireless networks. Everything worked fine at the last house with 2-4 out of...

In the Network Connections window, right click on the USB adapter and select Properties. Select the "Wireless Networks" tab. In the Preferred networks area, select the name of your wireless network so that it is highlighted. Then press the Remove button. Click OK.

Windows should now inform you that it has located an available network. Try connecting into it now.

Unable to wirelessly connect anymore

Click on the network icon in the task bar. Show the networks available and right click on the wireless network if it shows up. Try the 'repair' network selection.
You can also 'remove' the wireless device and re-install it. If you use the command: "ipconfig /all" it will display all the connections and their settings. Normally windows will use the auto config 192.168.xx.xx series of IP addresses if it cannot find a DHCP server to issue it an address. That should show up in the ipconfig output in the wireless network device section.
If the ipconfig does not show the wireless device, try the uninstall/re-install tactic.
If this is a PC-card [PCMCIA] that you can physically remove, power down, remove the device, power back up. Power down again, install the card, power up. Windows might then 're-find' the device and reinstall all the necessary drivers.

Dell pc will not work with linksys router

HI Boston
I believe the wireless card that you have in your laptop is a dell wireless card.

Here are the instructions on how to get your wireless working
Start-All programs-dell wireless-dell wireless wlan card utility-open the window and on the uncheck let this tool manage your wireless.
Please make sure that Enable radio is checked otherwise no wireless networks will be detected by the computer.
Once that is done go to start control panel in the left hand side make sure classic view is what is there. Go to network connection and you would see wireless network connection. Right click and click on view available wireless networks.
click on refresh network list if any of the networks are not seen.
Still no go try to enable the radio of your wireless card by pressing fn+F2 and then try.

if your getting limited or connectivity right click on wireless network connection go to properties, select on the top the tab wireless networks and remove your network from the preferred networks click on ok.

now get back to view available networks and try to connect to your wireless network.

make sure if there is a security on ur network you are aware of the ntework key and its case senstiive as well. otherwise ask linksys to give it to u.

if your wireless says connected check the ip address and post it here . for finding ip address start-run-cmd-click on ok

in the command window type ipconfig and post the ip address here.

alternatively also try updating the wirless card from the site
