SOURCE: Refrigerator/ water collecting under veggie bins

sounds like you do have a clogged drain tube, its self defrosting but the defrost water is pooling under hte crispers instead of in the drain pan under unit.so you ll either have to remove hte rear panel of freezer and locate the drain trough/ tube, and defrost it allowing for water to drain down, o rclear all the tube leading down to the drain pan.

SOURCE: My food in my vegetable bin is freezing.

This is a common problem that often doesn't have a clear, permanent solution. The first thing to check is the overall internal refrigerator temperature (see the Appliance Accessories section for a refrigerator/freezer thermometer). The proper temperature should be between 35 and 42 degrees. Here are some things to try:

  • If your refrigerator temperature is closer to 35 degrees, try turning the temperature up slightly.

  • If you find that the temperature varies a lot from the top shelf to the bottom (where it is coldest), try putting produce and other sensitive products on a higher shelf.

  • If the temperature is too low and you can't make it warmer by adjusting the thermostat, you probably have a defective thermostat. If so, you need to replace it, because they cannot be repaired. Other possible problems are a leak in the sealed (refrigerant) system, cold air migration (in side-by-side models) or a defective air damper. These problems can be quite difficult to locate and correct, we recommend you contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

SOURCE: Water leaking along back interior to bottom under & over veggie bins

Sounds like the drain to the drip pan is clogged -- maybe with ice.

Defrost water runs down to a drain in the bottom of the fridge and into a pan underneath where it evaporates.

Sounds like the defrost water is not reaching its final destination.

Here's the way the same problem was solved earlier today:

For those who have this problem with this model: The drip pan is in an open space on the back side of the refrigerator. There is a rubber spout that empties into it. But to clear clogs...you must take out the shelves from the freezer, unscrew and remove the back panel on the inside of the freezer. There you will see the water exit. Boiling water cleared it out.

I can solve your problem for you.

Self-defrosting refrigerators dispose of the water generated during the defrost cycle, usually via a tube or channel that directs the water to a pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. From the pan, the water normally evaporates. (See a more detailed explanation of this in the How Things Work section of our website).

If the tube or channel is clogged or obstructed, the water backs up and leaks into the inside of the refrigerator compartment. Then the water builds up at the bottom, inside of the refrigerator. When the water has built up for a time it may spill out of the front of the door opening. To fix this problem, clear the drain tube or channel and allow the defrost water to flow down to the drain pan.

SOURCE: water is leaking inside of the refrigerator on the

I have a Whirlpool Top-mount refrigerator. Whirlpool also manufactures many of the Kenmore refrigerators.

A few weeks ago I noticed a puddle of water on the top right shelf in the refrigerator section. I figured out that it must be the water that forms during the defrost cycle and normally drains down through a tube in the back into an evaporator tray beneath the refrigerator. Something was preventing the water from draining away and instead it was dripping through the overflow holes from the freezer into the refrigerator section.

I emptied the freezer and took off the back panel. It actually wouldn't come off at first because all the water beneath the defrost heater which should have been draining out the drain hole was frozen into one solid block of ice. I used a hair dryer to melt the ice (took a while - be patient) and then took off the panel.

To melt all the rest of the ice in the drain tube I used the hair dryer. To clear out the ice in the drain tube, I used a turkey baster and kept putting down hot water until I heard water making it down to the evaporator tray beneath the refrigerator.

The following mod is "try at your own risk" (I wouldn't do this if you still have warranty coverage - call a tech instead):
I made this modification to prevent the problem from recurring (at least that's the hope): Wrapped a piece of wire (unbent a large paper clip) around the defrost cycle heater and stuck it into the drain hole. The theory is that the wire will heat up every time the defrost cycle runs and will keep the drain hole from freezing shut.

One thing I noticed during this repair concerns the drip pan beneath the defrost heater in the freezer (this is the pan that collects the water that is melted off the coils during defrosting). The drip pan does not seem to be angled properly so that the water will drain normally towards the drain hole. I guess water could remain behind then freeze later. I reported this to Whirlpool.

My Maytag Dual Pro top freezer is running too cold.

freezer should be -15 and that is about 4-5 c on the knob
fridge should be around 4-5 C which is around +3 C
frost build up is from door opened too often , for too long or bad door seals
It is more prevalent when the ambient humidity is above 50% as it is the water vapour in the air condensing on the cold surfaces

Have a GE side-by-side profile 25.4. The fridge side is too cold and freezing items in back of top shelf and items in the veggie draw. Settings are 4 for freezer and 2 for fridge and things still are...

there is a air damper that lets the air in frome the freezer side,, it should be in the back top left corner on the fridge side turn the controls to off and listen you should hear a faint sound like a flap closing,, if not it is either stuck wide open, or the little motor has went out,,,( for a temp fix you can tape some of the opening off until you get the parts replaced

Bottom freezer model... the refrigeration veggie/fruit bins are freezing up?

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Not freezing but fridge is cool (veggie drawers are at 44 not 34)

your compressor is probably not running. if you see no ice build up in the freezer compartment, then the problem is most likely the compressor relay. although it could be a myriad of things, the relay is the most common.

Maytag fridge has constant running water sound

you hear a constant running water sound? look in your manual under "normal operating sounds". it explains all of the sounds. it sounds like you're hearing the refrigerant going thru your evap. coil located behind the rear frzr panel. you unit goes into the defrost cycle roughly every 8hrs and water drip down into the condensate pan un the refrig.
