SOURCE: 2001 Ultra CB radio does not transmit

hi the radio internall will have a driver and final transistor these are for the output signal or tx. you might find that the final transistor is faulty and needs replacing these fail due to incorrect swr or tuning of the antenna or cable / connector shorts. dont over look a bad microphone connection wiring on either end and internally on the ptt switch

most common driver is 2sc2166 and 2sc1969 for 27mhz amm & ssb

COBRA 21 GTL NO MODULATION NO RX. BUT IT WILL TX AT 3 WHATTS.I HAVE TRIED 3 DIFFERENT.MIC ON THIS RADIO CAN YOU HELP ME

That's usually a defective amc stage that produces RX audio and TX modulation. It's an integrated circuit that will require a tech fixing it. You will have a transmitted carrier with no modulation, and no sound in your speaker. However, make sure you have a good mike plugged in first, and substitute a known good mike to verify it's not the mike.

Key mike no hears me but shows meter

You didn't mention if you hear the other radio. If not, here's a common problem and solution.

However, if you hear them, and they see your signal, but no talk (modulation), then the problem is usually your mike. Try another one in this case. Thanks, Bill

Radio will "receive" but not "transmit". Radio, antennas, and wiring are all less than two years old. Should I try a new mike?

Firts you have to check for carrier. For this you need an swr meter.2) Check continuity between the pl259 tip and antenna.3) Check for modulation (voice) if all of the above are OK. 4) Check if your display changes to transmit when you press the mike. IF all fails, then try another mike.

2001 Ultra CB radio does not transmit. It receives fine. When you key the mike, the CB radio display (squelch) goes blank, headset sidetone is very weak.
