I don't like Yamaha receivers. On different forums, people always complain about them or ask how to solve different problems. When I was choosing an AV receiver I decided on an onkyo tx-rz630 and I haven't yet been dissatisfied with the choice.
Just connect the VX7 to the 5730 using an RCA Y cable. It should help

Hello srqwrk,
You can connect the VX7 to the 5730 using an RCA Y cable like the one shown in the picture below. You get your one connection for the receiver and 2 for the VX7. These are available at any electronics store. Remember that the cable should be long enough to go from the receiver to where subwoofer will be placed.
Hope this helps. Let me know.

had the same problem with a friend's 5560. it was a resistor on the rear center channel board, which is mounted right behind the middle of the heat sink. unhook the two ribbon type cables running to it from the board.
everything will work, except the rear center channel speaker. my friend never used the rear center channel anyway. in the meantime, he bought a new receiver, so i have an extra one for my workout room. woohoo. hope this helps.

You can use a hi-level to low-level adapter. Just remember, the Yamaha does not send power (wattage) to the sub, just signal. You need to use a subwoofer that has an amplifier either externally or built in.

Use HDMI because they combine picture and sound in one convenient cable. You can buy the cheapy ones because they work the same as the pricey ones with no degradation in sound quality or picture.
