Upon startup of my Averatec 3200 I get the error "CPU Fan Error". Is this something I can fix myself? Can anyone provide some guidance on this issue? Thank you!
I have the same issue as Chris, when I turn on my computer it reports a CPU Fan erroe, and advises me to please check- but I don't know how to check it, or fix it. Any suggestions? I have had this issue in the past but it seemed to resolve itself, but now it is affecting my operating system.I have the same issue as Chris, when I turn on my computer it reports a CPU Fan erroe, and advises me to please check- but I don't know how to check it, or fix it. First, download PC Wizard 2008 so you can check the fan speeds and temp of your CPU (and every other component of your PC if need be) and see if it's operating properly. You can find it here: http://pc-wizard-2008.en.softonic.com/ If it's malfunctioning, you'll need to replace it.

This might have to do with how the fan is being connected for power...if it is not connected to the motherboard and you are using some sort of controller....then you have to go into the BIOS (Setup) settings and tell it to stop monitoring the fan in question. All this is assuming that the fan in question is working!
Is the fan working? can you hear it? if the fan is working, check to see if dust is clogging the air vents on the side of the case, if there is, then there is probably alot of dust inside the laptop too. that may be whats causing the computer of overheat. , this is just one possible cause, the CPU fan may be broken, or your bios my be messed up.
A common problem with all laptop is dust. Sounds like you have 5 years worth of dust stuck in there. You should get a can of compressed air and blow though every vent you can! You want to loosen the dust that's in there and possibly try to blow it out and/or get it closest to the vents.
After that you should take a vaacum cleaner and **** out all the dust you can!
Dust inhibits air flow, alot! Its the number 1 killer of old computers.
tap the f8 key as the PC is starting, when you see the startup menu, select,"disable automatic restart on failure", then you will be able to see the "BSOD" (blue screen of death), and it will tell you what the error that is causing it not to boot. you can also choose from the f8 menu "Last Known Good Configuration" and see if it will boot to the desktop, if not try safe mode, with or without network support depending on your preferences, your problem is most likely caused by a recently installed Windows update, or driver update, or some other software install, if its not clear to you from the info you see on the BSOD, try to use the system restore feature, and roll back to a date it was working, if it solves your prob, pleas give me a fixya rating. Thanks
If you have access to another machine you can create a disk to fix the ntldr issue. Please see the following website. http://www.tinyempire.com/notes/ntldrismissing.htm
Check the CPU and Fan/Heatsink assembly. I have a pretty good feeling that the CPU is heating up too much and is not being cooled properly. There may be lint or dust clogged in the fan. You can get access to this pretty easy by removing a few screws on the bottom panel that houses the CPU/fan.
You mite not want to reset this. This could be telling you that your fan is faulty/Dieing. If so then if it doesn't turn off your comp, your CPU will fry from the heat. Try replaceing your CPU fan within your computer. "Cool Master" is a good brand. you can find them at any Fry's Electronics Store.
Fans on laptops run when the CPU is taxed. The more its taxed the louder it will be due to higher fan speed. The laptop over the years has gotten bloated with programs and stuff that gets in and stays on your hard drive. The more programs running in the backround the more the CPU is taxed. Try uninstalling useless programs first, empty your recycle bin, delete temporary internet files and cookies, run the disk cleanup utility then perform a scan disk and a deframent. Also you may want to add more memory to your system if it needs it. I use crucial's website (crucial.com) to scan the computer and tell me what memory I can use in my machine. Hope this info helps you out.
IF you check your BIOS and everything is fine, and also you run a stress test, and everything clears. They you have no problem, usually you see this error in custom builds.
