Pioneer AVH-201EX no image for backup camera

I've installed a Pioneer AVH-201EX and connected all the wires per the installation instructions, do not get image when I put vehicle in reverse. I know camera is good and works, as it still works with old monitor. I've tried another camera and video cable - same results. This is in a 2004 Ford F150XLT

SOURCE: pioneer AVH-P5700 instalation

You can find a wiring diagram for your 87 monte at http://www.modifiedlife.com/1987-chevrolet-monte-carlo-car-audio-wiring-schematic/ You can refer to the installation manual for your deck at http://akamaipix.crutchfield.com/Manuals/130/130AVHP570.PDF Since you are removing a shaft style radio and installing a DIN style you will need to perform extensive modifications to your dash. The Pioneer manual provides the dimensions.

SOURCE: bypass ebrake with relay on a pioneer avh-p5700

Go to any auto parts store and purchase a four wire relay and wire it up as follows: The relay will have numbers written on the bottom for each pin. The wire from the parking brake from the H/U to 87. Ground to 85 and 30. Remote from the H/U to 86. This will give you an automatic bypass to the DVD lockout. If you want to just put a switch to do this manually you can also. Go to Radio Shack and buy a momentary push button switch, part number 275-1548. Take the green wire coming out of the unit. Strip the wire, and attach it to one of of the pins on the relay switch. It doesn't matter which one. Buy a standard 16 gauge wire from Radio Shack and connect it to the other pin on the switch, then connect the other end of it to a grounded connection on your vehicle. Now, when you play a DVD, the warning screen will come on. Just press the button on the switch and it will go away, since it tricks the receiver into thinking you have engaged the parking brake. Like someone said before, it is illegal in just about all states to have a dvd or other video playing if the driver can see it and the car is moving. This method is used because the lockout not only keeps you from seeing videos but also locks out some features which many feel have nothing to do with safety and they need it.

What do I need in order to watch movies on my radio. Everytime I put a dad in it says something about they cannot play while car is not in park but it be in park

Your Pioneer may not be properly installed. There is a light green wire in the wiring harness that needs to be connected to the parking brake wire in your vehicle. If that wire is installed correctly, there may be an issue with your vehicle. Below is a link to the installation manual.

No sound from ipod, usb or aux?

I removed my Pioneeer AVH-P4000DVD from my Tacoma pickup to upgrade to an AVH-X2500BT and installed the AVH-P4000DVD in my mustang cobra and found myself suffering from a strange issue (that seems to have happened to a lot of you too). All of a sudden I had lost my audio on my USB and AUX inputs. I tore the net apart for a solution, pouted, drank, and started doing more and more research, and check instruction manuals. I eventually found the solution based of one lone comment someone had mentioned regarding ground and comparing the wiring diagrams for the two decks. I pulled the pioneer harness out of truck and compared it to the pioneer harness in my car and found an inconsistency. This may solve the issue that plagues you as well. Check the harness you are using. I was not able to find a pinout, but the 4 wires on one end of the harness for the AVH-P4000DVD should be +12V battery, +12V ignition, ground, and ground, (yellow, red, black, and black). If you have received the harness for a newer model of pioneer AVH it will still fit fine but one wire is out of place. The second ground wire you need has been replaced by a purple reverse gear sensor for the backup camera. Ground out the purple wire and it should solve your issue... It did for me. Good luck.

Installation

are you experienced in installing car stereos at all? these decks are not the easiest to install. Best bet would be to try to find an installation manual....there would be way too much instruction to put on here.

similar but not exactly the same - for a dvd you must also connect a line to the parking brake wire that shows ground when engaged
