Try the apple reset procedure by pressing and holding both the center and menu buttons for at least 5 seconds. If this does not work, it may be best to call apple.

Try this:
Hold down the middle button (home button), the power button, and the volume DOWN button (make SURE that it's not the up one. It won't do anything, but it won't fix your iPod. Only the Down button will.).

Hold all of these down until the Apple sign shows up. Once the Apple sign shows up, it SHOULD work.
I hope this helps!

Why wont my iPod turn on?

Try plugging the Ipod into a charger and see if anything appears. If a charging symbol does not show up try next step.
If charging symbol doesn't show up hold down the Power Button and the Home Button at the same time for A FULL 30 seconds! The apple logo should show up. If it does not move to the next step.
If nothing shows up on the phone at this point try moving the silence button up and down, do you get a vibration when you change the button to silence? If so it means that your screen is just not displaying the image and you need a new LCD if it does not make a vibration when you move the silence button after trying all of the above steps it is likely that the phone is ruined or something is disconnected on the interior.

My ipod wont stay charged

This may not be the answer you are looking for but your I pod might not be fully charged, meaning that you are not plugging it in the computer/docking system long enough.( it takes much longer than 15 minutes to charge the battery. So you might want to plug it in/dock it over night) Or you may be playing a game that uses a lot of MB/GB so it kills the battery. And make sure that you press the play/pause button down for at least five seconds before switching the little switch at the top of your I pod. If you don't press the play/pause button for five seconds and just switch the switch at the top a little lock will appear on the left corner meaning you need to hold the play/pause button down for five seconds then the i pod screen goes black at that time flick the switch at the top off. -hope it helps owner of i pod nano and I pod touch.

Use the Five Rs to restore the iPod. You will lose the data that is currently on it if you restore but you can always re-sync the data to the iPod. http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/

I plugged in my i pod and came back a hour later and the screen was black and was frozen and none of the buttons would work

you will need to reset your ipod this will not delete songs. 1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again).
2 Press and hold Menu and the Center button for at least 6 seconds, until the
Apple logo appears.
If iPod nano won’t turn on or respond
â Make sure the Hold switch isn’t set to HOLD.
â The iPod nano battery might need to be recharged. Connect iPod nano to your
computer or to an Apple USB Power Adapter and let the battery recharge. Look for
the lightning bolt icon on the iPod nano screen to verify that iPod nano is receiving
a charge.
To charge the battery, connect iPod nano to a USB 2.0 port on your computer.

Just charge the battery until the indicator says the battery is full.
well since its been connected for more than enought, disconnect it, you can also try reseting the ipod incase it has frozen

To reset your iPod:
  • 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  • 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Tip:
  • If you are having difficulty resetting your iPod, set it on a flat surface. Make sure the finger pressing the Select button is not touching any part of the click wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Menu button toward the outside of the click wheel, and not near the center.
  • If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep.

Ipod nano 8GB 3rd generation FROZEN!

First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the left, here's how you reset:

You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will shut off, then back on.
