My frigidaire smart connect air conditioner keeps tripping the gfci plug after the compressor runs for a few minutes.

I replaced the cord. Didn't fix the problem. I've tried plugging it into a different outlet. Problem persists. Runs fine on "fan only."

-If both compressor and fan motor starts and stop, thermostat is the defect.
- If only the compressor check for your outlet no sign of discoloration, check the voltage if normal, check the defective overload protector of the compressor it its external, or compressor itself is defective

SOURCE: The fridge keep tripping the

Refigerators should NOT be on GFI-protected circuits. Problems have occasionally been reported when plugging a refrigerator, freezer or other motor-driven appliance into GFI-protected circuits. These appliances generally have a motor that pulls significant startup current. Due to the electrical characteristics of motors, the startup current can look like someone getting electrocuted, causing the protection system to trip. The best remedy is to connect these appliances to a non-GFI outlet. Usually outlets that are expected to serve such appliances will not have GFI's installed.

SOURCE: air conditioner keeps tripping breaker

Every air conditioner has a motor called a compressor. The compressor provides the cooling capacity for the air conditioner. If the compressor or its electrical controls are defective the compressor may try to start, fail, and create an electrical overload. If the unit does create an overload, every compressor circuit is also equipped with an overload safety switch. The safety switch is designed to protect the compressor from burning out. The safety switch will cut the power to the compressor for a certain length of time and then reset itself. When it resets it will allow the electricity to flow to the compressor once again. If the compressor then starts, the unit should function normally. If the compressor doesn't start when the overload resets, the overload will again cut the electricity to the compressor. This cycle will continue indefinitely. (Always allow three to five minutes before restarting the compressor.) If this situation is occurring, unplug the air conditioner and get help from a qualified repair technician. This problem is often fatal to the air conditioner because the cost of repair often exceeds the price of a new air conditioner.

if this helps please vote me a fix ya

SOURCE: gfci breaker for spa

gfci's are designed to trip if they receive voltage on there ground/neutral side, therefore my vote is for Smithbrother I would say there is probably a partial short somewhere in you system.

Keeps tripping when I plug it in.

Either your household wiring is incorrect (likely reversed HOT and NEUTRAL, or open GROUND), or the GFCI plug on the air conditioner has failed. Once you have verified your household wiring, if the GFCI still repeatedly trips, they are easy to replace.

Trip reset when plug in

Either your household wiring has inverted hot/neutral or no ground connection, or the GFCI plug on the air conditioner is defective and needs to be replaced. Either way, you have some work to do: Using a circuit test plug (available everywhere inexpensively), verify that there is not a wiring issue with the outlet, and rewire the outlet as necessary. Once wiring is verified, if the GFCI plug on the air conditioner still trips, just replace the GFCI plug end, and done.

Frigidaire fra18emu2 unit won't power on

Good Morning Marty, thank you for allowing me to assist you. Here are a few simple troubleshooting tips that may help you resolve this issue:

· First, confirm that the unit has power to it.

· Check the power cord connection to the wall outlet is secure.

· Make sure that the house circuit breaker has not tripped.

· Try testing the air conditioner again. Make sure the unit is turned off, Press the TEST button, you will notice a clicking noise as the BUTTON pops out. Then press the RESET button. Again, you will notice a click as the button engages, now turn unit on. If the LCDI plug does not reset the cord may be damaged.

· The "Cool" circuit has an automatic 3-minute compressor time delayed start if the unit is turned off and on quickly. This prevents overheating of the compressor and possible circuit breaker tripping. And the fan will continue to run during this time.

· If the unit has been turned off and on rapidly or if the thermostat was changed to a lower number and then immediately turned back to a higher number the compressor may not start. You must turn the unit off and wait a minimum of 3 minutes for the unit to equalize before restarting.

If these assessment measures prove to be ineffective, I would strongly suggest contacting an authorized service technician who would be better able to assist you in the diagnosis and repair of your unit. You can often locate an experienced technician in your area by going to the manufacturer website.

My a/c unit keeps tripping when i plug it in. i've tried to hit the reset button on the plug but doesnt do anything. i unplug and plug back into outlet and it trips again. what can i do to fix it?

Hi,
There is nothing you can do to fix it... the compressor is trying to start and cannot so it trips the plug. The plug trips to protect the house circuit from being overloaded and causing a fire.
Getting the compressor replaced is cost prohibitive, it is cheaper to buy a new unit.

When i plug in my frigidaire fac125p1a the reset button trips immediately. won't turn on.

compressor has gone to ground. In other words the reason the reset button trips is to prevent any electrical shock due to the compressor going bad. Only way to fix this is to have the compressor replaced

Sound to me like its pulling too much amps due to back dirty coils, check this coils where the fan blades throw the water on the coils ,this could be getting clogged! or low on freon, not enough cool gas to keep the compressor from getting hot!I

Air conditioner constantly shuts off

Are you saying that you have plugged the aircon into an extension lead then into a socket in the wall and that the smoke was coming from the extension lead part. If so I would suggest checking all your plug in connections and chenge the extension lead. A quick way to check the compressor is a cause is to put the aircon to fan only and see if it fails to trip out the circuit breaker, then put it back onto cooling and see if it trips (if it does on cooling then its a good possibility). Most aircons have a three to five minute time delay for starting the compressor to protect against power fluctuations (ie power cuts). Hope this s of some help.
