Hello

maybe you have defective power transistor output and this is shorted, or the problem is in the power section like shorted diode shorted capacitors or open circuit may cause this, and the STK IC if shorted you got protect warning..

What do I need to hook a HDTV up to an Onkyo TX-DS747 receiver

okay hello, you dont need a HDMI cable as it appears your receiver isnt equiped with that feature. The way you have to do this is if you have a source you run the video chord (yellow chord) then then left and right audio (red and white cable) run them from your souce such as satelite or dvd player or game console.you plug them into your input on your receiver then you run one video chord on the output port on your receiver this will put the sound through your receiver and put just the video to your tv.if your tv has a option to run audio out then you just reverse this pretty much. You run auudio left and right from the audio output on your tv to the input on your receiver.then on your menu on your tv make sure you go to speakers and set them to off and set it to output audio if this option is presented.

" protect " light on and flash, then the machine off

The audio output transistors or ic's have shorted and replacement is the only option.

I have an Onkyo TX-DS747 & everytime I turn the receiver on the speaker outputs a switch keeps turning on & off for about an hr before it rectify it's self. Is there a way to correct this issue??...

What it sounds like you are describing is the protection relay turning on then imediately turning off for the time period mentioned. That would indicate a possible short in the circuitry. Probably a capacitor that is intermittant or even a transistor about ready to fail. This is probably not something you can look for if you are not an electronic tech. Find a reputable shop and get it fixed before it quits and does more damage. Let me know how you make out.

Tx-ds747 no display light, when powering on only stand by mode and the volume knob has light ,how to fix it.

Sounds like the "Pure Audio" mode is turned on. This mode is designed to use the amps power to dedicate to audio processing and sound quality. It turns off all front panel lights and video processing. Check you remote or thr front panel of the Onkyo for a "Pure Audio" button.

My unit switches between speakers A, B and neither, while warming up. Lasting anywhere from 5min-15mins until it settles. Then speakers A can be selected and it will stay there. How do I fix this?

I see that I am not only one with same issue with TX-DS747, and would be grateful if someone could post some more info about this problem.
