I just moved my side by side and hooked up the water line. I have water to the dispenser but it doesn't seem like there is any water running into the ice maker. Does it take a while??

Yes, I would leave it alone for at least 24hours, when it starts making ice you should throw away the first couple of ice cycles.

I have an Amana Side by Side Refrigerator with an icemaker and water dispenser. I don't have a water line to hook up to the refrigerator. Is there an on/off switch for the icemaker?

There should be a stop control near the icemaker where it collects ice in the tray. It should be an L-shaped lever. move it to the stop position.

My Whirlpool Gold Side by Side (counter depth) [model# GC3PHEXNS00] refrigerator stopped making ice. Water dispenser is still working, doesn't seem to be an obstruction in the line. What do I do?

Can be clogged water passing line or faulty water valve. But if you have already checked the water passing line and it seems clear, then its most probably the water valve.---------

The ice maker not working: ---

Its the problem of water inlet valve. It's a dual valve. This valve has two tubes in it. One for water dispenser and one for ice maker chamber. The one side of valve is working, but other side of the valve is not working. The valve is got stuck in one position

I just bought a used kenmore elite side by side refrigerator and hooked up the water line to the back of the fridge. My question is where does the long water line the goes to the fridge and comes back...

Where you hook the house water line is to the water inlet valve which is a one in two out solonoid controlled valve. One side goes to the water dispenser in the door and the other hooks to the ice maker connection.

So I suspect the long water line you are talking about has had the lines switched at the valve and needs reversed. The long line probably goes up the back of the unit and connects to the ice maker. The one for the water dispenser should hook to the water chiller resevoir and then to the water dispenser.

How to hook up Ice & Water dispenser on freezer door

The water valve is on the back of the refrigerator. The water line connects directly to that valve. If there is no line available then you will need to run one from a cold water line in the plumbing using a drill type (1/4") saddle valve on that pipe. Hope this helps.
