Attempted soft reset (unplugged from AC outlet), upon attempting to turn on, Sony logo appears on screen for 1 to 2 seconds, then black, and no volume. LED light is solid green but flashes when any remote button is pushed. No success with hard reset. Examined screen with flashlight at angle and can not find anything at all on the dark screen. Would attempts to research and repair be pragmatic, or should I replace?

on the signal board replace the caps by the 5/9 volt regulators. c2p04 is the main culprit. 6 caps in total can be changed. I believe c2p05 also.

Hi -
I had the exact same problem recently with my SONY Trinitron 27 inch TV! After trying everything, I found that pushing the Up and Down volume controls on the TV panel (ie NOT on the remote) at the same time, the problem went away. I hope that this helps!

Unplug the unit.
Plug back in and wait till you see 000000.
Press and hold the power button in at least ten seconds or until the clock shows up.
This worked to fix mine.

Hi,
First you need to determine how many blinks you are getting when you try to power on the laptop.
Check the blinking codes below and reason behind that for HP Compaq laptops
Blinking battery power LED Battery Insufficient charge on the battery
Blink: 1 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - CPU CPU not functional
Blink: 2 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - BIOS BIOS corruption failure
Blink: 3 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - Memory Module error not functional
Blink: 4 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - Graphics Graphics controller not functional
Blink: 5 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - System board General system board failure
Blink: 6 - Caps Lock/Num Lock - BIOS BIOS authentication failure
Plz get back so I can suggest you the steps to resolve the issue.
