Question about RCA Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have an RCA ColorTrak plus with a universal remote which I managed to program - can access the menu, but cannot get anything through satellite, just snow. How can I make this work?

I hooked up the corresponding yellow (video input) red and white cables from the satellite receiver to the TV, went in and auto-programmed the channels, but nothing. It stopped at 69 and selected no channels. I am also hooked up to a separate TV antenna where I can bring in a few more channels by pressing the TV/Video button on my old TV. I bypassed this setup, but still nothing. Everything worked on my old TV. Would appreciate some help - thanks.

It sounds like you are having difficulty getting a signal from your satellite receiver on your RCA ColorTrak Plus TV. There are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Make sure that all of the cables are properly connected between the satellite receiver and the TV. Double-check that the yellow, red, and white cables are securely plugged into the correct inputs on the TV.
  2. Check the settings on the satellite receiver to make sure that it is set to output to the correct input on the TV. Consult the user manual for your satellite receiver for instructions on how to access and change the settings.
  3. Check the settings on the TV to make sure that it is set to the correct input. This can usually be done by pressing the "Input" or "Source" button on the TV's remote control.
  4. Check the satellite receiver's LNB (low noise block downconverter) and make sure it's pointed at the satellite.
  5. If the above steps don't work, try resetting both the satellite receiver and the TV to their factory default settings. This can often resolve issues with the TV not receiving a signal.
  6. If you are still having issues, it's possible that the TV's tuner is not compatible with the satellite signal, or the TV's tuner is malfunctioning. In this case, you may need to consider getting a separate satellite TV tuner and connecting it to the TV.
  7. If you've tried all the above and still having issues, it's best to contact the manufacturer of your satellite receiver or TV for further assistance.
It's important to note that the setup and troubleshooting process may vary depending on the specific model of your TV, satellite receiver and antenna. Also, if you are not comfortable with troubleshooting electronic devices, it's best to contact a professional technician to do the job for you.

Try the old RCA/GE channels of 90/91 or 92 to get to the inputs. Or try entering channel 00. Let me know if that works.

How to access video input w/o remote for rca colortrak plus tv

usually it is not possible in as much the manufacturer did not provide buttons that can be use on the device, you can try using a master remote which is to be programed to work for your device, ask for a master remote and make sure your device is listed among the devices that the master remote can operate.

I am trying to program the RCA ColorTrak Plus TV to my satellite receiver and I get nothing but snow

You will need to get a "regular" Universal remote and program it for that particular model of TV. You will need to access the on screen setup menu for the TV and then have it scan the channels. Make sure your DTV box is on and connected with the coaxial cable. If the "TV Input" button on your DTV remote works and you can get it onto the Video Channel, You can connect your DTV receiver with the RCA Cables (Red, White and Yellow) and get your picture that way. If you access the on screen menu, you will need to scan for Analog and Digital channels as the receiver transmits in Analog. hope this helps.

RCA Colortrak 2000 remote control will do everything except change channels.  I have Insight coax cable, just having disconnected from Direct TV satellite connection--only because new apartment does not...

I called RCA's 800 number on the back of the owner manual--got a response that said to replace the unit since only the up-down channel changer buttons were not working. Using another remote (universal) now--cost only $5.
