Assuming that you've tried a different electrical outlet, it may have a defective charger or a totally dead rechargeable battery.

Lost charger for dirt devil power swerve, where can I find a replacement charger

Dirt Devil has the replacement charger available here: https://www.dirtdevil.com/power-swerve-cordless-stick-vacuum/BD22050-PARTS.html . There are a few third-party chargers that claim to replace the 440008693 charger.

I hope this helps.

Dirt devil easylite 7.2 v does not hold charge. Can you suggest any fix? Thanks

Sorry to say that the batteries seem to be worn out. Usually this is caused by using it for to short a time each time you use it. Batteries develop a 'memory' after several short time uses, and can only be charged the time it 'Thinks' is a full charge. You can try running it until it almost stops. Then let it sit for about an hour turned off, then turn it on again, and run it till it almost stops. After doing that put it on the charger for 8 hours. Then run it until it almost stops again. then charge it again. That process sometimes breaks the memory problem. If not, you need new batteries- or a new dirt devil.

Dirt devil doesn[t hold charge

Try running the battery all the way down by letting the vacume run in a corner or another room and even when it stops leave it on for a hour to drain the battery. Then shut the switch off and try charging the battery. Make sure the charger is putting out enough volts by looking at the rated output of the charger and while it is plugged in check it with a volt meter. If it does not hold a charge and the charger is putting out the right voltage you need to purchase a new battery for the vacume

Will not hold a charge

if it will not hold a charge - then I would say that the battery is weak, old and bad and needs to be replaced. there is also a chance that the charger ityself is not putting out enough voltage to totally charge the battery. use a volt meter to check the charger and see if it is putting out the correct voltage,, if it is at the right voltage - then replace the battery.

It doesn't hold a charge. After just a few seconds of running, the motor starts to drag.

Either the Charger is not putting out enough charge or the battery is bad.
If you don't have a voltmeter to test the charger take it to a local auto parts store or mechanic and they will probably check it for free.
Dirtdevil.com is the source for either the battery or charger.

Light says its charging but it wont turn on

Hi there,

Well first of all you may check that the charger (adapter) is working or not, you may use a volt meter to check it out or use another charger to make sure....... further you may follow the step below -
1. Remove the battery pack from Vacuum.
2. Hold down the power button for five seconds.
3. Reinstall the battery to reset the system.
4. Plug the Charger directly into vacuum.
5. Charge the battery untill the power light is solid green again and keep the vacuum on the charger for an additional 72 hours (3 days). Important: Do NOT interrupt this charging cycle.
If further you have the same problem it means it's time to change the old battery with new one.

Good Luck!!
Thanks for using FixYa!!

I can't get the charging light to turn on.

I have the same problem, after our building had a electricity problem. The electricity spiked when the utility company came to fix a problem. Several adapters in our apartment seem to be affected. Like my Kone, my dirt devil detailer had the same problem: charging light didn't come on, and while it charges, it only gets up to weak power. I got a new charger/adapter and when I plugged it into the base, the charging light was working again.
