I have a Sony ccd-trv87 camcorder that randomly ejects the tape no matter what mde the camcorder is in - even if it is in thew off position with no tape present. It also continues to turn the lcd screen back on when in the off position. the only what to keep either of these problem from occuring is to remove the battery and unplug the external power cord. Any advice? Thanks

Sounds tape mechanism is stuck for some reason. Remove battery from camera, reattach it and press eject. Do you see any error code blinking in LCD at top right corner?
1. I removed the battery. 2. With the power switch On position and holding the tape ejected I inserted the battery back on & it ejected the stuck tape.
IMPORTANT:
If your camcorder model has a RESET button, first try pressing this
button. If there is no RESET button, or pressing the button does not
resolve the issue, continue with the troubleshooting steps below.
Turn off the camcorder.
Remove the battery from the camera.
Remove the AC power supply from the camera.
Slide the power switch on the camera to the VTR, VCR or CAMERA mode for 15 seconds.
Moisture sensor is on the main circuit board and to replace the sensor you probably invest $100-200 for repair. It's the sensor or component surounding the sensor which gone bad. No other way around it. Good luck.
The flip up cover over the cassette housing has the "eject" button built into it. Sony has had problems with the flexible harness that connects this door to the camera body. The harness rubs against the metal frame of the camera and causes various malfunctions such as the constant eject symptom you are having.
Sony service in Laredo, TX can repair this for you, it is no big deal.
Good luck, this is a nice camera!
