SOURCE: Cannot connect to Computer

Turn off computer. Turn ON computer and immediately hold down Apple+option+p+r. after 4 chimes let go. You are going to be using the Firewire cable. once the camera is on and plugged into computer go to : apple> about this mac> more info click on Firewire. on the right hand side you should see your camera. Now if you don't its either the Firewire port on camera or the cable it self. to further isolate. Get your older computer. leave off. plug the firewire cable into both computers. Now the older computer that is turned off. TURN ON and immediately hold down the " T " on keyboard. ON the polder mac, your screen with have like a "Y" icon.. its a Firewire icon. Now look on the other computers desktop, do you see a yellow or blue hard drive on desktop. IF you do.. ITS your camera because we just tested your cable and both ports and they are working. Now try the USB cable and see if its detected by computer by going back to Apple system profiler and see if the computer is detecting it

Did you change the display preferences in the main menu to mirror the display onto your tv? If not please click on the Apple logo(main Menu)-> Go to Preferences-> Displays(depending on the OSX version you have) -> Arrangement -> Mirror Displays. Save the changes and the the resolution should be automatically adjusted to match that of your tv and you will see the laptop's screen on the tv. If you do not want it to mirror displays and display only on the external monitor drag the selection pane on the external monitor. This post has images to show you what I mean

I own a G drive FW 250. I am trying to connect it to an IMac 2017 with 4 usb3 and 2 thunderbolt 3 ports. What cables/connectors do I need?

The G Drive supports USB and Firewire (Not Thunderbolt). In your case, use a USB cable to connect it to your iMac.

How do I get my iMac to double as a monitor for my laptop?

Hi Mark,

You can't use an iMac as a 'monitor'. But you could use Apple's screen sharing.

On the MBP, go to System Preferences -> Sharing, and check the box for Screen Sharing. Now, on the iMac, in Finder select the MBP and then click the Screen Sharing button. You can now work with your MBP on the iMac. I do this a lot, you can even run the MBP in a 'Space' at full screen.

Thanks,
John

Connection problems, macbook air to pocket projector.

Hi Kevan. What video connector is on your macbook Air? There is the Micro-DVI version OR the new ThunderBolt version. The Thunderbird version is squarer (looks a little like the USB socket on a printer) and has a little lightning flash (Thunderbolt) by its top left corner.
If you have the first one, you need this connector Apple Micro-DVI to VGA Adapter and a normal VGA cable (included oin the Philips box).
If you have a Thunderbolt connector then it would appear that you are stumped. This makes no sense as Apple sell this, projector in their stores - and it won't connect to any computer they currently sell (except the iPad).
