Most common problem with weed eaters is the small fuel line breaks off inside of fuel tank usually flush with top of fuel tank - check to see if fuel line is still connected to weighted fuel filter inside of tank - replace if necessary. If fuel line is intact then adjust High speed adjusting screw 1/16 counter clockwise to allow a richer mixture - special tool may be needed to adjust - available on ebay. Carb or filter
. replace fuel filter in tank while checking both pickup and return fuel lines.
remove carb and disassemble cleaning all parts with carb cleaner and some soft air blow . look for small screen its round and about 1/4 round in carb these are so small that the gas that's available gells and plugs the openings . try to use non-ethonal high octane gas and use echo 2cycle oil .
well if it starts but soon dies then you can be sure its not an ignition problem, your problem is gas flow , ck the filter inside the tank , blow air thru it to see its clogged , also if it sat 4 that long ck hoses , I bet they dried up and cracked , this allows air instead of gas in carb
how did u "clean" the carb these things are tiny inside and have lots of little passages that can get stopped up , just a spray or two of carb cleaner is not gonna do it .
Youwill need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner.Make sure the small screen is free of debris. (Should be able to seedaylight through it.)
If they are o.k.,
then you will need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.
cleaner. Make sure the small screen in the carb. is free of debris. Use
a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152), to clean the small portals in carb. Reassemble and start.
(NOTE: If the cleaning doesn't work, then buy a carb. kit abd replace all appropriate parts.)
Stihl weedeater was running and stopped suddenly. Put in a new fuel filter and cleaner air filter with soap and water. Checked spark plug and it appeared fine. Started the weedeater, ran for a second or so and stopped. Spark plug wasn't gas fouled. Could it be the carburetor needing new diaphram gasket and spring.
