How to adjust the PL level on an FT270R

Everything is properly programmed, but I cannot bring up the repeater. I have back monitored it and know it does transmit, the offset is correct, so I have it narrowed down to the repeaters not 'hearing' the PL tone. (Tried many local repeaters to verify).

SOURCE: Problem Recieving

First try programming the Receiver for Carrier only Squelch,,ie no PL /TPL, then check if it will receive the repeater OK.
If the audio still cuts in and out then (assuming no fault exist) either you mis-programmed the Frequency slightly, or the TPL choice was incorrect.

There is also a possibility of a Bandwidth mis-programming.

Repeaters may have 12.5 KHz or 25KHz channel bandwidth. Basically if you set your radio to 12.5 KHZ and it receives a transmission from a 25Khz Repeater because of the higher repeater TX Deviation the audio on your radios RX will cut in and out and may sound distorted and very loud as well. Your radios TX would sound OK though, but would have lower audio level when heard on the repeater RX. Does your TX work OK through the TPL repeater?

When setting up xr8600 is it best to start mains and monitors master at 0DB?

1. Turn the main and monitor volumes all the way down (off). Plug a cd player into channel 9/10 and play a track of music of your liking. With the main/monitor volumes still off, adjust the gain on 9/10 until the clip light turns on, then back it down until the clip light just turns off. Put the channel volume at 12 o' clock.
2. With the music still playing, turn up the mains to the desired listening level first, and then adjust the graphic eq until the music sounds good in the room. Remember or mark the position of the volume control. Do not use the channel eq on 9/10 for music that has been mastered properly, leave the eq flat. Once this step is completed then you have now set the main eq.
3. Repeat the same for monitors. Turn off the main volume and then bring up the monitor main volume to the desired level first, then set eq. Now your monitor eq is set properly. Remember or mark the position of the monitor volume.
4. Set up microphone - plug a mic into channel 1 with volume all the way down. Speak or sing into the microphone and adjust the GAIN until you see the clip light, then back down a litttle on the gain. Put the monitor and main volumes back up to the mark from step 2. Now adjust the volume and monitor send on the mic channel to the desired loudness first before adjusting the mic channel eq. Use subtractive eq method to minimize distortion and feedback. ...i.e. if the mic is bassy then turn down the lows, do not ADD highs. If the mic needs bass, turn down the highs.

EITHER THE FLAPPER IS NOT PROPERLY ADJUSTED OR YOU WILL NEED A NEW FLAPPER. WATER IS SLOWLY LEAKING BETWEEN FLAPPER AND SEAT. AS WATER LEVEL DROPS ,TOILET WILL RUN TO BRING WATER LEVEL BACK TO PROPER HEIGHT.

My monitor keeps on flickering and at times it just has lines on it. Eventualy it comes on but then it start all over again

Hi foomouse! Try the following solutions. If none of them work, it's time to get a new monitor unfortunately.

1. With everything turned off, including your power cords, make sure everything is securely plugged in. Many times people swivel their monitors to adjust them and the cord gets loose in the back.

2. Update your video drivers which can be found in many places on the web.

3. If this just happened recently, do a system restore back to the last time you remember the monitor was working properly. It should be under Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools>>System Restore.

Hope one of these works for you!

Having Trouble Receiving Through"TPL"

Are you sure that you are using the exact RX Frequency? is the radio in 25Khz if this radio is working on 12.5Khz with the IF filters changed to work in narrow band (12.5) could happend this.
Do you know if the repeater is on parameters mostly of the cases when an over modulation is received this will cut the PL modulation for short periods.
If the radio transmit over modulated could "erease" the PL modulation for short periods.
I think this radios should be checked all the Tune parameters to make sure is ajusted properly.

Good luck
