Question about HP Officejet 5610 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Can not scan

WIndows Vista Business, 4 gigs of RAM, 250 gig hd.
On the officejet 5610 control panel when I hit the scan button the LCD,
tells me no hp device attached and I get the amber warning light on next to the setup button. Everything is connected properly and the USB cable is good, tried two different ones, one brand new out of the box.. USB 2.0. I can copy the picture and I can scan it if I select HP Photosmart essential icon on the desktop. I never do see the HP DIGITAL IMAGING MONITOR anywhere. I have uninstalled the software twice and reinstalled it. Used a registry cleaner and PC Pitstop Optimizer after each uninstall, Updated my drivers on the HP website. Still have same issue, bought the officejet 5610 all in one yesterday evening.

Printer says no scan option available refer to trooblt shooting in the operation manual?

Scanning function worked fine with my desktop for several months. Since connecting a separate laptop via USB cable the scanning function no longer works when I reconnect my desktop. I see the No Connection error message.

SOURCE: can not scan

When this happen it is usually the USB cable. When this happen it is usually a problem with the USB cable. If
communication on USB cable is bad, as a result you can print but not
scan.Having also messed up a bit with the drivers ("HP digital
monitoring icon anymore"), you may also need to reinstall the driver.
My suggestion on how to proceed is the following.
Buy a better usb cable, the shilded ones cost a couple of dollars more but guarantee better communication.
Unplug printer from usb.
Unplug computer and printer from power for two minutes.
Plug back computer and printer to power, DO NOT plug in USB cable yet, leave printer NOT connected to pc.
Reinstall
drivers and software, keep printer disconnected until connection is
explicitely required by printer software installation process, or after
installing.
Connect printer when required.
Check that there is no
electric device (power adapters, extension etc.) very near to printer
USB cable, they can cause electromagnetic disturbance.
Try scanning. If it does not work at thhis point is either a problem with windows (new windows install required) or a faulty scanner.

HP Officejet 5610 all in one When i try to scan

If you have windows vista and it comes up with the "no scan options" don't press the button on the printer, go to "start" then "accessories" then "paint". This will open up the windows paint program. Go to "File" then click on "From scanner or printer". It will then scan the document, no more problems

Good luck.

Is 1 gig of ram enough memory to support vista to run?

Hey there you want to use vista?? lol good luck. You need a min of 2 gigs ram to run vista but should ideally have 4 gigs for good operation. vista is a memory hog. You can change the configuration to use less but still need at least 2 gigs

Change your Bios to tolerate greater or wider changes in temperature. Virus scan, malware scan, make sure you know what is coming in and going out of the computer.

Cust is not able to download any program on vista operating system it gives an error message as not supported on windows 64 bit

there is very little software, and virtually no freeware, that supports vista 64 bit. return the computer if u can and exchange it for one with vista 32 bit, these machines usually have 3 gigs or less of ram, where as the vista 64 bit systems will typically have 4 or more gigs of ram.
