Did you check the powerhead drive belt. Procedures for replacement are on the electrolux website and also in the owner's manual.

SOURCE: Kenmore powermate front axle fell off

It will go on hard. Just angle it until you have it as far as you can go, then use maybe a hammer to knock it the rest of the way.

SOURCE: belt broke, can't get bottom off

if it's the one in the picture then pop off the light cover by gently pushing in and prying on both sides . Remove the bulb by pushing and twisting , OK?, now see the 2 screws? take them out. now flip over the powerhead and gently pry at both sides toward the rear wheels.

SOURCE: Assemble Swivel Assembly onto Kenmore Canister vac

Got this post off this web site...I just replaced my swivel and it worked:
http://www.managemyhome.com/mmh/answers/Answers.action#l4q110567
To install a new swivel assembly, you will need 2 small, flat tip screw drivers. Unplug the vacuum. Push the screw drivers in between the hose and the collar where you see the seams in the plastic collar on the end where the hose enters the collar. This will release tabs that hold the collar to the swivel. Pry and pull the collar back over the hose and then pull the small screwdrivers out of the collar. Slide the collar back along the hose. Unplug the wiring connections from the hose. Pull the hose wires up and out of the holder on the swivel assembly. Lift the tabs on the side of the hose and pull it off of the swivel. Push the new swivel onto the hose. Align the hose wires and secure them in the holder. Plug the wires from the swivel into the hose wires (blue to blue, white to white). Secure the swivel wires into the wire holder on the swivel assembly. Push the collar back up the hose and onto the swivel with the plastic seams aligned with the tabs on each side of the hose. Snap the collar securely into place.

SOURCE: how do you take the canopy cover off of a kenmore cannister vac?

Flip the vac upside down and look for two screws from the underside near the wheels. If they are not visible you will need to remove hidden screws from above by prying gently at the back of the vac where the body panels meet at the bumper. Also look for two vertical screws in the bag area.

My husband accidentally dislodged the belt on my kenmore canister vac. how can we disassemble the head to put the belt back on?

There should be 4-5 screws on the bottom of the brush assembly, remove them and you will see the brush and belt, remove each end of the brush assembly they should lift up and out of the housing, and either replace or reailine the belt on the motor side of the housing.

How do I disassemble a Canister Vac Model 116.21714. extension wand ?

Sadly, there does not seem to be much help available for this. Sears wants $100++ another $30-40 shipping to have UPS take it and may be fix it. If you do not want to pay the fees, you will still have to pay $50 to get it back. Sears service shops will not fix vacuums. What the heck?!

Kenmore vacuum model 116

Anthony, glad to have you back, except that you're missing a bunch of numbers. All Kenmore vac's models start with a 116., (notice the decimal after the 6). Then there's at least four to six more numbers that spell out the actual model. If you can get those for me I might be able to help.

I have a Kenmore Canister Vac. I need to replace

Try forcing a flathead screwdriver between the flange (tab) on the hose collar and the tab on the swivel assembly itself, taking care not to gouge the wires. Saw one solution where they used 2 screwdrivers simultaneously; couldn't do that, but did loosen one side at a time.

Open power cord housing on kenmore 116 vac

You can go to the Sears Parts Direct website and type in your Model number. It will return both an exploded view and parts list, with pricing for replacement parts. You can also order from them, and they can tell you stock status as well.

I was looking for a Hose for the vac, and found one at good will store that will work. Others wanted more for the hose than the vac was worth.
