Question about Philips GoGear HDD6330 MP3 Player

Philips go gear 6gb not connected.

I have my philips go gear 6gb mp3 connected to the computer's usb port, and its saying on my device manager that its not connected. I installed everything right, followed all the steps and its not working. My brother had to reinstall windows on my computer because my audio wasn't working, before that, I could synchronize to my device without a problem, but now it wont let me. The cords are fine because I went downstairs and hooked it up to my mothers computer and it worked. Both of my usb ports wouldn't work on it, and nothings wrong with them because I put my wireless mouse into both and it worked fine. So, I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me. The mp3 doesn't have a reset buttom and I don't know how to remove the battery. I've tried just about everything and I'm about to chuck it out the window.

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

Everybody, just reboot computer while Gogear is connected, let windows load then...wait......wait.....wait....connected. If after 15 mins still no connect then reset.
No 'soft reboot' that resets preference/settings is needed. Unless file database gets tampered with, by you no who then YES you will have to reset. Just use media player 10+ and sync files to gogear only way for best functioning. Rebooting windows an just waiting should work.
Also take into consideration a fully loaded up gogear functions and connects much slower than one with fewer songs on it.

My mp3 philips go gear shows the message: connect to pc and use device manager to repair

if you still have the CD's the device manager is included with them. install it and use it. if you are using win xp sp3 or vista/win7 you will need to visit the site-->support page-->find your device and look for the device manager download. alternatively (worked for me on a 6gb) you can open my computer while the device is plugged in and recognized right click the philips mp3 icon and click format, this will erase all of your music and images but it should recover your mp3 player. if this does not work use the program from the site/your CD's

NOT CONNECTED WITH THE PC

Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Try another USB port
Reset the player

If that fails:
Download the newest version of the Philips Device Manager:
www.usasupport.philips.com - change your country/language as needed
Enter in your exact model #
Click on the link for your exact model #
Click on the Software & Drivers section
Click on "Firmware Upgrade Software"
Install the new Device Manager
Open and run the "Repair" tab

If still nothing:
Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

If these methods fail, call Philips to see if you are still in-warranty.

Mp3 go gear 2g

The laptop must have a USB 2.0 port, and even then many laptops don't have enough power to do everything they need to do AND run an mp3 player at the same time.

If your laptop is running Vista, you must update the firmware on the player for the GoGear to work properly.

Because it is flashing on/off,
It could be a hardware issue requiring replacement, but here are the things you can try to narrow it down:
1. Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
2. Reset the player
3. Run an Updated using the latest version of the Philips Device Manager from Philips website
4. Run a Repair in Philips Device Manager

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear: (also forces the PC to recognize the device in many cases)

Broken go gear

taht - your USB port is not connecting with the GoGear. With GoGear connected,
go to Start -> Control Panel --> system --> hardware --> Device Manager - and find the yellow or red exclamation mark under Universal Serial bus Controllers; right click and update driver

if that still does not work, or no yellow exclamation is present, then runa Repair in Philips Device Manager

dreaming - your GoGear will absolutely support songs from Limewire if they are in mp3 format; if the songs do not show up in Windows Media Player, there is a chance that the computer does not recognize your Gogear:

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

USB cord is most likely faulty. Go to the place that you bought it from and ask them to check it or replace it.

Phillips Go Gear 6GB

The Phillips website has a solution for this:
Go to the FAQ for this mp3 player. It'll tell you to install the Device Manger which will repair the problem. I've done this, however, the Device Manager claims my mp3 Player is not connected.

Try this yourself, you might have better luck.
