Where can I get a repair manual.
I think all that's wrong is some electrolytic b locking capacitors are bad.

I recently posted a problem with a cambridge soundworks 730 which had a display problem with unreadable characters and/ or ALL of the controls would lock up after being on for 1-2 hours and could be fixed temporarily by unpluging and then pluging back in Luckily I was able to find another display board and that took care of the problem and eliminated the tuner board and the power supply board in the back as possibilities. there are several chips on this board so a service manual would be necessary to pinpoint this particular problem or a replacement board from the manufacturer OR buy a broken one on ebay that does not have the same symptoms and make one good one out of two and you will also have extra parts.BE CAREFUL WITH THE RIBBON CABLE WHEN YOU REATTACH IT TO THE DISPLAY BOARD its a little tight and must be pushed back in evenly. It might be easier to take the whole radio apart and disconnect it from the tuner board which is a straight run whereas on the display board end its at an awkward angle

Mine is dim also. Apparently sending it in for repair is not an option.
Unfortunately, the CD740 radio has reached end of service life.

I don't believe you will find the Service Manuals generally available online. You would likely need to obtain these from a technician working in an authorized dealer location. If nonone has been able to respond to your request at this point I would recommend you contact Cambridge Soundworks directly to see if they can and are willing to provide. Their contact information can be found here:
I just had the same problem and called tech support (800) FOR HIFI at Cambridge Soundworks for help. All you have to do is unplug the radio for 30 minutes and then reconnect - kind of like rebooting a computer.
