You state that you have "had it for a little less then a month" "it" being the tablet. If this is so and particularly if the tablet was new then you should take it back to the vendor for him to repair or to replace with a working unit, because clearly the one you have is "not of Merchantable Quality".

hold down power and volume up and down at the same time for 10 seconds and then release. should reboot. if not then there is something wrong with the board or a software glitch.
hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds to force a power off. When turning back on, hold the power button down until you either feel it vibrate or something comes up on the screen.
