Hello Thomas Le,

Depending ENTIRELY on the size of the TOY...

If the toilet is actually in a newer generation "low flow"
"water saving " toilet... (for a BIG ENOUGH TOY)
IT is MORE than possible The toy is still inside
The TOILET...

Before doing ANYTHING else...

My very BEST recommendation would be to
completely CLEAN and empty (prepare your
WET/DRY SHOP VACUUM for WET SERVICE.

A 2' unfitted piece of 1 1/4 inch RIDGID vacuum
tubing fitted to the end of YOUR shop-vac would
be ideal. Complete the seal with DUCT-TAPE.

Vacuum OFF...
Without VACUUMING out the water from the toilet
bowl... GENTLY advance the FLEX-TUBE into the
throat of the bowl... The AIR in the sewer line
( past the WATER ) Can help you to pull air
(and possibly the TOY) through the VENT STACK
and up to the VACUUM HOSE...

THE WATER in the bowl will keep you from pulling
air from the room side (or consider putting a hand towel
in the bowl to keep AIR from coming from the ROOM side...

Turn the VACUUM ON... With any luck you will get
a vacuum purchase on the TOY with the hose.

Try to extract the TOY with VACUUM pressure.

ELSE
To remove and DRAIN the toilet...

- Simply shut off the WATER.
- Remove TANK COVER to a safe place
- DRAIN or SIPHON out the toilet tank
- Disconnect the water supply
- Remove the TWO base bolt cover caps
- (Look closely and TAKE PICTURE)
- Remove the nuts, washers (etc.)

On a protective layer of cardboard or shipping
blanket... PLACE the toilet safely on its SIDE.

WAX RING was used in the past (re-use TOILET)
I am proceeding as though that is INDEED TRUE...!!

Remove the WAX RING and clean/scrape BOTH
toilet and flange surfaces of WAX, dirt & rust.

There is a NEW TYPE of TOILET SEAL that makes
toilet REMOVAL and RE-SETTING easy... and
highly successful.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Fluidmaster-Better-than-Wax-Universal-Toilet-Seal-7530P24/205762183

WHAT make TRADITIONAL "wax-ring" toilet seals
so frustrating and difficult... IF your positioning is
less than perfect...

Push the flex tubing "UP" through the TOILET
to dislodge your TOY.

IMPORTANT... If you are placing the same toilet
LIKELY ...
you can SKIP replacing those MOUNTING BOLTS.

Simply slip the plastic bolt holders over you OLD BOLTS
and make sure your bolts are pulled all the way UP.

READ and FOLLOW the RING-SEAL instructions:
- Place your NEW waxfree seal over the bolts
- Cut UNEVEN lengths of a large SODA STRAW
- Place the STRAWs over the bolts
- use the straws to guide the toilet over the bolts

Reverse remaining removal steps)...

>> Keep in mind... It is EASY to break a TOILET...!!

FIRMLY (only)...
tighten all fittings ( do NOT overtighten ).

USE shallow bowls (take-out plastic) under fittings
to check for MACRO leaks...

When you are confident your fittings are a SNUG
as necessary... USE CLEAN PAPER sheets to
assure you have no MICRO-LEAKS.

IT really takes two people to SAFELY place a toilet
without injury or breakage.

Consider a TOILET JACK if you are ALONE.

Toilet bubbles when tub drains could be from stuck toy in tub overflow?

The bubbling sounds like it's trying to get the air it needs to drain. Kind of like holding your finger over thr the top of a drinking straw and then lifting it out of the water. The water won't drain out until you lift your finger off the straw, allowing air to come in so the water can drain out. If the vent is clogged it could cause this. Squirrels dropped walnuts down mine and clogged it. The vent is the pipe that goes up through the roof, nearest to the toilet and shower. If the shower drain vent line is clogged it is possible that it could be sucking the air it needs through the toilet, sometimes actualling pulling the water out of the toilet. This is not very common but it can happen. If you can get on the roof and get a garden hose into the vent line(s), you can tell if it is clogged because water won't drain, it will come back out. You should be able to turn the water on full blast and it will drain normally if the vent is clear. It's possible that there is a connection between the toys and your problem, and the way you access that drain line is usually thru the wall on the opposite side of the shower controls/drain. I would start by running water down the vent lines on the roof. Good luck.

I have an american standard toilet which is flushing slowly. i have it off and drained and am trying to get a roto rooter to pass thru it. i cannot get this spring thru the toilet either from the bottom...

If you have that thing off, take it outside and put it up on saw horses, fill the back with water and flush it, see if it is still slow. Then get your kid to reach up there and get his toys out if it doesn't flush. You might have to do it a couple times. Then if it does flush, you know it is clogged down the line or something is blocking the vent. Got squirrels? Check it out.

With the toilet clean, try a large shop vac and see if that will unplug it , I had to do that when my son had flushed a toy and it was stuck. If that wont work you will have to pull the toilet.
