The vocals are directed to the centre channel. If this is not connected or the connection is poor then it will mute the sound of the vocals.
If you want you can select stereo mode when listening to just music. Not the surround modes. Or you can check the centre channel is working and not switched off. Some amps have the ability to switch speakers off in different modes or settings.

dude, is your earphones plugged all the way in?? i know it sounds stupid but sometimes that happens to me. if they are only half way in I only hear music not vocals. hope it helps

it's not supported on that or any earlier sony software that I know of. have you tried running the program twice (simultaniously) and playing on one while recording on the other then mixing the tracks together after??

I had this same problem and checked all of my cables and wires. Come to find out one of the wires that connected to the central audio speaker (the one that the audio track comes from) was unplugged. I plugged it in and that fixed it! My audio track is back! So make sure that all of the speaker cables are properly connected! That might be the source of your troubles!
