How is the tomatoe plant? Also how are the fungus gnats. I'm not sure if the liquid is supposed to fizz.

SOURCE: newly planted red apple iceplant but weeds are taking over

I have heard of two possible choices, the first is a product called "Killer" sold at Armstrongs Gargen centers that may kill the grass, but not the Ice Plants. Check out - http://www.garden-counselor-lawn-care.com/kill-crabgrass.html
and

Good Luck, I Have not used it, but going to in the next couple of days, seems to be the best choice I can find so far.

SOURCE: how many oz is 6-2/3 oz

My reference book says 3.78 liters equals one gallon. 3 gallons would be 11.34 liters. 11.34 X 6.66=75.52 oz of concentrate. That is 4.72 pints. A dictionary will have conversion charts.

SOURCE: I just dug a new

Roundup works on the leaves of an active plant. It is not a preventative. Use Preen for preventing weeds. If you do spray Roundup on active weed, it takes two weeks before you can plant your good plant material.

Getting rid a fungus gnats throughout the house and killing houseplants

Mix one part 3% hydrogen peroxide with four parts water. Allow the top layer of your soil to dry, and then water your plants with this solution as you normally would. The soil will fizz for a few minutes after application; this is normal. The fungus gnat larvae will die on contact with the hydrogen peroxide.

What is the cure for yellow leaf on tomato plants

Usually fungus. You need to plant tomatoes where the sun will dry the overnight dew quickly each day. Don't water at night (water in the morning). Try to water the soil and not the leaves.

Ask your nursery for a fungicide (or if something else is causing yellow leaf in your area). They will know and guide you.

Best set to pull off the dead/yellow leaves to limit cross contamination and spread of the fungus/mold.

How to get rid of gnats

  • Clean up the living area where the gnats are hanging around. This is usually the kitchen .Take away all garbage, clean the sink disposal, and throw away any food residue.

  • 2

Spray the counters with a cleaner that contains bleach to discourage gnats. Dry off the counters with paper towels.

    • 3
    • Find out where the gnats are getting into the house. If there are cracks around windows or doors bass seal them. Fix any window or door screens.
Elimination
  • 4

Pour a cup of ammonia down your sink drains and disposal to coat the inside. Gnats inside the drains will quickly die.

  • 5

Mix together equal parts apple cider vinegar and dish detergent.

  • 6

Pour the mixture into small dishes or cups and set them out in the areas where gnats congregate. The gnats will be attracted to the sweetness of the vinegar but will get caught and die in the dish soap.

Prevention
  • 7

Keep trash cans covered at all times, and empty them every night.

  • 8

Leave your compost buckets outside. Gnats love vegetables and fruits.

  • 9

Avoid over watering your plants. Soggy soil attracts gnats

Spots on tomatoes

If the spots are mostly at the bottom of the tomato, more like one blotch, it is from not having enough lime in your soil. It is called bottom rot.Putting lime in the soil is called sweetening the soil with lime. This is what you need to do for bottom rot. If it is in other places and more than one spot, it could be from insects crawling on and defecating on the tomatoes or maybe a type of fungus or mold. Hope you only need garden lime. It will save your tomatoes from bottom rot since it is early in the year.

I have a MayTag 5000 with steam washer /dryer.I just dried a load of clothes with ink in it. Need advise how to remove ink stains from the New Dryer

Dear I'm sending you an email I got and refer to offen. Give peroxide a try 50/50 mixture with water. It can't hurt and i hope this helps you.

Peroxide, who knew? *

(Safer and Healthier than Bleach)

This was written by Becky Ransey of Indiana (a doctor's wife), and I want to share it with you. She was over recently for coffee and smelled the bleach I was using to clean my toilet and countertops. This is what she told me...

I would like to tell you of the benefits of that plain little ole bottle of 3% peroxide you can get for under $1.00 at any drug store. What does bleach cost?

My husband has been in the medical field for over 36 years, and most doctors don't tell you about peroxide. Have you ever smelled bleach in a doctor's office? NO!!! Why? Because it smells, and it is not healthy! Ask the nurses who work in the doctor's offices, and ask them if they use bleach at home. They are wiser and know better!

Did you also know bleach was invented in the late 40's? It's chlorine, Folks! And it was used to kill our troops. Peroxide was invented during WWI in the 20's. It was used to save and help cleanse the needs of our troops and hospitals. Please think about this.

1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle) and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out. (I do it when I bathe.) No more canker sores, and your teeth will be whiter without expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash.

2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of peroxide to keep them free of germs.

3. Clean your counters and table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe, or spray it on the counters.

4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.

&a mp;n bsp;
5. I had fungus on my feet for years until I sprayed a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let dry.

6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% perox ide for five to ten minutes several times a day. My husband has seen gangrene that would not heal with any medicine but was healed by soaking in peroxide.

7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.

8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold, plugged sinus. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes, and then blow your nose into a tissue.

9 If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.

10. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the 50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will not have the peroxide-burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages but more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, reddish, or dirty blonde. It also lightens gradually, so it's not a drastic change.

11. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid boils, fungus, or other skin infections.

12. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, pour it directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

13. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors. There is no smearing, which is why I love it so much for this.

I could go on and on. It is a little brown bottle no home should be without! With prices of most necessities rising, I'm glad there's a way to save tons of money in such a simple, healthy manner!

This information really woke me up. I hope you gain something from it, too.

Pass it on! If you'd like to.
