i really doubt that you can use it as an internal drive..
i would guess that changing the battery source would be your best bet.. so try to send it for repairment..
the other thing that could have happened is that you lost your entire information from some sort of burnment... that also can happen on internal disk when a power failure comes..
so if you have really really important information and need to take it back, you could try changing the plates to another one of the same model and rescue the info from there..
and yes.. it is insane and extremely hard to do.. but there is a group of people on the internet that specialice on getting information from disk and stuff..... they once got some info from a disquette that got cutted with a pair of sisccors, what they did was put all the pieces of the disk back together with scotch tape and put everything back into another flopply disk case..and it worked... so my theory of changing the plates is quite posible, but somewhat unnesesary for the huge ammount of work...

It's possible to clone to this drive, but over the USB interface, it will be very slow. Firewire would be faster. It's also possible to boot from it, but again, it will be slower than an internal. What you've described, however, IS possible.

Hello there, as you stated earlier Bose products are proprietary in nature and although quite a number of people have tried to get this done but none has been successful from all my searches. Bose in their proprietary nature have ensured that the unit comes with a different memory system as opposed to the Sata Disc which is evident in most units and therefore the likelihood of getting a memory system which would fit into the system is zero. They have also ensured that the firmware which is needed to make the system work is not available for download let alone installation on a new memory system.
