If Microsoft Word has stopped working messages continuously show up, try to run a quick repair:
Click Start
Search for and open Control Panel
Click Programs and Features
Find Microsoft Office in the list and click it once to select it.
Click Change
Choose the Quick Repair option, and step through the wizard.
Restart your computer after that and see how it goes.

There has been a Microsoft issue since the first days of Vista which should have been rectified and we are into win 7/8 now and still the same, not saying categorically that is your issue, but you could try it as it will only take about 2-10 mins to solve, click on this link and bookmark for future reference. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060
