That will have knackered the main power output device(s) located on the big heatsink. If they are transistors you should be able to tell which are faulty as a meter on the pins will give a full scale deflection, just like it was a piece of wire. There could also be physical signs of damage such as parts blown apart or burning.

SOURCE: Fuses blow afer power surge

These are switch mode power supplies and very difficult to repair. If you don't find all the blown components, they just blow up again when you try it. If that model has a separate module for the supply, you can try and order a replacement, but they usually are too expensive.
What model is it? Maybe I have a junker I can take the supply from for you?

SOURCE: kawasai z750, keeps blowing main fuse

Hi,

To my knowledge, there are no onboard electrical/electronic components capable of shorting and blowing the fuse with out blowing any of the secondary fuse. The main fuse could possibly blow due to a short in the wiring or an exposed/frayed wire touching the body. The three most likely areas would be:

  • wire harness leading to the regulator;
  • wire harness leading to the fusebox; and/or
  • wire harness leading to the ignition switch.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: b300 speaker blowing mains fuse as soon as power

The power transformers in these and some other behringer speakers have a habit of short circuiting.
Good luck trying to get any details from behringer about spares or tech info..they act like they have something to hide...and maybe they do ;).
You can unscrew the amplifier part from the speaker and disconnect all leads except those 2 going to the power transformer..if it still blows the fuse then the transformer is history.

SOURCE: Connecting Speakers to Marantz NR1402

HI,
You can use banana plugs to connect speakers to the speaker post. Connect the wire to the banana plug then insert the banana plug in the speaker post.

If you serch in google with the name speaker banana plug then you will get picture of different types.

You can buy this banana plugs in any nearby electronic spare part shop. They all stock this item. Normally comes in pair ( red, black)

1973 Americana 3700 is blowing fuses in the amp. Is that normally a short or would it more likely be the amp going bad?

A short, fuses blow when there is an overload. Often caused by a shorted output transistor(s) in the main power amp. This is often caused by bad speakers or bad wiring connections to the speakers. Especially two wires that touch.
Amps will only go bad if they are subjected to abuse, such as bad wiring, kept at high volume, or kept in very hot conditions.

Hi I have the amplifier marantz 2250 to power up the fuse break. Let me ask how that was done, and how to fix it, how much money

Fuses blow due to an overload, in amps it will be caused most likely by a short in the main power amp section. Probably one or more devices mounted on the main heat sink. The cause is often speaker cables that have shorted, or faulty speakers.
The cost can be estimated by taking of the top cover of the unit. This should show the devices on the heat sink. If you see any burnt or damaged they have to be replaced. Each device will have a number on it. If you put the number into a search engine it should find the price of the part. Then you only have to see want they want for labour costs.

Where is the fuse in a xr1220 mixer.

which fuse?? main fuse? output fuses?

if the main fuse has blown & the device simply won't power up, replacing it will merely result in another blown fuse - you need to take it to someone who can repair the units' power supply

output fuses blow when speaker wires are shorted, or speakers fail short - they're on the main circuit board, but seeing you're asking, i'd suggest you don't open the unit, but take it to someone who knows what they're doing

Marantz blows fuse

You probably have a shorted diode in the power supply or a shorted output transistor. In either case it will need troubleshooting and repair.

I have a marantz 2238b receiver and a magnasonic dvd 824-2. . where do I connect the cable to watch movies?

To play audio from your DVD player through the 2238b, you will need to hook the RCA left an right outputs from the DVD to the Aux IN on the back of the 2238b. Then you will need to power on the 2238b and place the selector switch to the Aux position. Lastly, adjust the volume to a level you are comfortable with and that should be it.

Thanks

The receiver marantz 2238b was on at moderate level when I moved on of the speakers then it just stopped I wonder when I was moving the speaker if the wires touched causing the problem of no power.I hope I...

I have a feeling that what you fear has happened has.
If the wires to a speaker touched together that would have caused a short circuit and an overload. Now it could be that the amp detected this and either blew a fuse or shut the system down. The worst case outcome is that the short blew the main output device.
You can check these things yourself. First unplug the unit from the mains then take the top cover off. Locate where the power goes in. The see if you can see and fuses. You might have to look on the PCB for parts marked "F" in letters and numbers on the board. Also look around for any part that might be damaged. You might even be able to smell it if it burnt up.
Also look at all the parts on the metal heat sink. Inspect them for damage.
Check all your wiring before reconnecting the unit, especially if you have found and eliminated the cause.
If you find small glass fuses in the unit and you replace them and they blow again, then one of the parts on the main amp (heat sink) has shorted and needs to be replaced.

It appears they may have the schematics and manual for the unit which will allow you to get a list of the parts which you can then find the specific parts you need online or at your local hardware store.

My marantz SR 7400 suddenly shuts down or goes into protect mode shows code CKPWR5

Most likely you have a speaker short, you need to check the ohms on each speaker disconnected from receiver if they are 8 ohms they should be close to that on the meter no more than a 1 and half ohm varience to what the speaker ohms says on the back. If they are ok you need to disconnect speaker wire from receiver and check for a short in the wire by connecting ohm meter leads to ends of the speaker wire you should get no reading if the wire is good. If this is all good you have a bad output transister in your receiver, but i dout this is the case because these transisters normally short to ground and blow a fuse. Hope you solve your problem good luck

Samick sga 120 amp keeps blowing fuses. replaced all rectifier diodes and tranformer seems to be working fine. any suggestions?

Fuse blowing is due to excessive current drain and the the first clue is the blown fuse itself. If the fuse blows with a flash a bang and splatters copper across the inside of the glass you have a hard blow caused by a dead short on the power supply, check for power switch flashing over internaly. Short circuit main filter capacitors. Shorted turns in power transformer primary winding. If fuse just separates check for short on output transistors C to E. Try isolating fault by disconnecting LT pos/neg supplies to output stage. Also check for partial shorts on speakers and speaker wires using an analog ohm meter on low ohms setting.

The fuse keeps blowing in my marantz pm-57 amplifier. It says it takes a T 2.5A 250V fuse. I can only find 2.5A 250V fuses. What relevance is the ''T''.

Goo day sir, the T on the fuse has nothing to do on you marantz fuse blowing up, chances are you amplifier is shorted, check you IC amplifier/power transistor for shorts. Check also your speaker impedance. usually they are 8 ohms. You can use a technician's multitester device to check the impeadance. An imbalance or mismatch speaker can cause a fuse to blow and destroy your amplifier. hope this helps.
