Viking gas burners light fully then die away. This is a Viking VGIC305 freestanding gas oven and range. What could be the problem?
I have a Viking VGIC305 freestanding gas oven and range. When I light the burners, they come on fully and quickly, but then die away to nothing within 10 or 15 seconds. I am guessing this has something to do with a selenoid valve or a a temperature sensor, although I don't know how this model senses temperature, as I cannot see a thermocouple anywhere. Does anyone have advice?

My best guess is it needs a new igniter harness, Though it could be the igniter module. Resistance testing of the igniter switches on the igniter harness would tell you which. Part # PE070818
Hi I have the same problem.I think the burner needs to be removed and blown out with high pressure air. Also I believe that Viking redesigned the burner. Please let me know if you find a solution. I also posted the problem.
bad ignitor also you could have air in the gas lines. Also make sure that the burner is clean there are several tiny holes where the gas comes out right beside the ignitetor.
If you have a burner lit and gas build up, strong smell etc., my advice would be to stop using the oven immediately! You no way gas should come out, build up, to the point you smell it, Especially while a burner is lit. Dangerous condition.
If the broiler burner is the only burner, then it should come on. If there are two burners, chances are the broiler burner comes on to get the oven heated up more quickly. Once near temperature, the other burner maintains temperature.
no the termostat but the ignitor that's the part that's nest to the broiler burner. the part that ignite the flame. when you turn on the broiler the ignitor becomes red like a glow.
