I am only guessing at this point but there should be a tap that sticks out from the back of the rear door ( much like the way a microwave door has a tab on it that lets you know that the door is fully closed ) so check the back of your printer to make sure that the tab is still in place and if it is, check to see if it is doing what it was meant to do, also the tab system might have been replaced with a small magnet or a metal plate that makes contact with each other and when this is done the printer knows the door is closed, so if all looks good then it could be the electronic part that the tab or magnet comes into contact with and this is faulty or misaligned, remember to look closely at the back of the door to see if a tab has been broken off or is missing. So also study the printer body and look for a way in which the printer knows that the door might be open eg. some sort of electrical switch that tell the printer that the door is not shut and then ask yourself why the switch is not been activated. You might have to takes steps like gluing on a tab or wedging something in between the switch to trick the printer into thinking that the door is shut but a little bit of detective work is required on your behalf.

You may have checked this already, but make sure your printer driver is not set up to print two copies per print job if it is then that's the easiest place to change settings. Or you can print out your printer's menu by doing the following: To print a menu map 1. Press (SELECT button) to open the menus. 2. Use (UP button) or (DOWN button) to scroll to INFORMATION, and then press (SELECT button). 3. Use (UP button) or (DOWN button) to scroll to PRINT MENU MAP, and then press (SELECT button) Look for anything that says "copies" and usually that will let you know what is set on the printer. To change a control-panel setting 1. Press MENU to open the menus. 2. Use (UP button) or (DOWN button) to scroll to the menu that you want, and then press (SELECT button). 3. Some menus might have several submenus. Use (UP button) or (DOWN button) to scroll to the submenu item that you want, and then press (SELECT button). 4. Use (UP button) or (DOWN button) to scroll to the setting, and then press (SELECT button). Some settings change rapidly if (UP button) or (DOWN button) is held down. An asterisk (*) appears next to the selection on the display, indicating that it is now the default. 5. Press MENU to exit the menu Good Luck.

Hi,
I have that exact problem at work. There is a bump on the right side of the lid...and when you close the lid it presses on a lever. Check and see that the bump actually pushes that lever downwards. That's how the printer determines that it's closed.

Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
