SOURCE: How tight should I tighten

There is no torque value as far as I know. There should be rubber washers to minmize the chance of cracking the ceramic and to provide a water seal.

But to try to give some sort of guideline, on a scale of 1 - 10, I'd say a 6 would be about right -- or perhaps you could call that medium tight. In any event, the bolts have to be tight enough to prevent leaking -- if it leaks, you'll have to keep tightening.

9C-23H/C American Standard: Does the seat for the stem take an o-ring? I replaced the seats but the drip got worse.

There are three things to replacing a washer seat, after you turn the water off, open the valve before you replace it, most people take the stem nut out first, then putting it back over compresses it unless the valve is open.
Check the seat, this is not the rubber washer at the end of the stem. The seat is in the fixture, most can be removed with a special wrench.
Last but not least is the over tightening the valve to stop the water. Water wont stop instantly and it important to remember that. Turn the water of lightly when you are done, wait a moment to see what happens when the residual water drains. Then tighten more if necessary.

Fix an american standard slow close toilet seat

Check the chain the goes between the handle and the flapper.
It should not be taught. If it is it will not permit the flapper to seat
properly and water will leak out. Adjust the chain length so the flapper is seated and there is just a little slack in the chain.

They all work pretty much the same. Feel around the top rim of the bowl near where the tank meets the bowl you should find one bolt underneath on either side of the toilet seat. Tighten the nut under there to tighten the seat.

Dont know how to tighten my toilet seat...i have the studio 2 piece from american standard

There is a plastic cap that you need to flip open. You can do this by prying the flap at the top of the hinge. Once you pop it open you will need a screw driver to turn the screw that is inside/underneath the hinges. Turn the screw clockwise until it is good and snug. then snap the hinge cap back into place by applying pressure to it.

Base of faucet leaks- cannot remove set screw at handle American Standard Elite kitchen faucet series 4453

if you are having trouble removing the set screw make sure you are using the correct size allen wrench and confirm that it is a allen screw and not a trox screw. After doing this try tighten the screw slightly before loosening it. This should break it loose.
