Be sure to try a brand new needle. Otherwise, it's possible the machine is slightly out of time. Search for "sewing machine timing" or take it for service.

SOURCE: while sewing on singer quantum

Mine did this and it seemed impossible to fix. My problem was a tiny bit of thread stuck in the bobbin cover (but it could be anywhere in the thread route). I ran dental floss through the path the thread follows and also in the bobbin cover and poof out came a small piece of thread that all my looking missed. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: the bobbin thread shows

Hi,

This may or may not help, but perhaps you should check that your bobbin is wound correctly, and that you have it inserted into the bobbin case properly. I find that these are usually the 2 main reasons why the bobbin thread show through.

It could be the design, does it do it on all designs?

SOURCE: Bobbin thread

Not completely sure on your model but you have to adjust (loosen) the tension on the top thread to match the tension on the bottom thread. Usually there is a wheel on the upper right of the machine. the tension adjust is the knob inside that wheel. Turn counter clockwise about 1/8 turn. Then try and repeat until it works. Check owners manual for top thread tension adjustment if needed.

Good luck.

SOURCE: Consew 230 continually breaks top thread at needle

What size thread are you using? With thicker fabrics, you should be using at least a size 50. Even a 30 would be better.

What needles do I need

As above, your machine will work fine with either standard sewing machine needles or embroidery needles from Schmetz, Organ, or Singer, but most experienced users find they use standard sewing machine needles instead of embroidery needles which are much more expensive. The only difference is on embroidery needles the eye is slightly larger.

Now, as to your snapping thread! The needle is not usually the cause of that. Your problem is being caused by too much tension being applied to the thread BEFORE it goes into the thread path, or it can also be caused by aged thread. Even if you purchased it new, it could have been standing on the shelf for a while. Most experienced users don't put the thread on the provided spindle; instead, put it in a mug placed at the back of the machine away from the embroidery hoop, and then thread normally. If you have a CE-200, you will have an auxiliary silver thread holder at the back you can use before the thread enters the normal thread path. Also, try switching the thread (as well as the thread brand) you are using to test if the problem is the thread.

Singer quantum XL-150 how do i thread this machine?

All Singer models would have arrows/numbers to guide your top threading from the spool pin to top thread guide, for most machine start from your thread spool pin, to a thread guide follow arrow down then up into the take up lever and down to the needle thread guide then into the needle hole. Assuming you have wind and install the bobbin thread into the bobbin case, turn your hand wheel towards you makes the needle bar goes down, keep on turning till the needle bar is fully up again, pull the end of the top thread to pick out the bobbin/bottom thread. With your material/fabric under the presser feet, apply the presser feet lever down, you are ready to sew.

1. the needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is to tight
3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle

I have recently bought Singer Quantum 9940 and I am not happy with the stitch. For zigzag stitch, I can see too much of the upper thread on the bottom side. This happens unequally: more on the right hand...

1. Make sure your needle is correct for the fabric. Go buy some good needles in several sizes. You'll need a 90 for jeans, rounded points for fine fabrics... get a few sizes. Your manual should provided you with clues to the right needle for the fabrics. (BTW... there really is no such thing as a Universal Needle... toss it.)

2. Re-read your manual and carefully follow the instructions on threading the bobbin and the upper thread...

3. Check your tension on the upper thread... it is too loose for the application. The tension on the bottom thread is handled by a spring on your bobbin case or race. If you do not have that threaded properly you'll have problems. Same with the direction the bobbin turns... have in it backwards... problems.

Barring all these things... It might be time for a qualified Singer repair person to look at it. Sadly Singer has seriously lowered it's standards in the last 20 years.

MY THREAD KEEP BRAKING

it could be several things
check the needle to see if bent-roll on flat surface to see if it roll correctly
if the needle makes a popping sound when it penetrates the fabric is blunt
check to make sure the needle is not in backwards
check upper tension it may be to tight
thread may be hanging up in bobbin area-clean bobbin case area for lint or loose threads
check to make sure the thread is not caught somewhere
try using different thread

Stitch

Mine is doing the same thing. It's pulling the thread up from the bobbin and making a huge knot. Any suggestions. I've done all the above checks. Brand new needle, tension is on embroidery, threaded properly and no lint in bobbin compartment.

Bobbin Case Slipping

I have found that this usually starts with the top thread somehow getting stuck - either in the tension control, or wrapped around the post. Generally, this pulls the bobbin case out of alignment, and the needle hits it. If the needle hits in just the right/wrong place, it can gouge the bobbin case, making a rough spot or hook that will catch the thread, causing the problem to repeat more often, and without any apparent cause. If the nicks and gouges are not too bad, I have been able to file them down, or use a pair of scissors to scrape any protruding bits off. If there are too many gouges, or they are too deep for this to work, you need a new bobbin case. I have purchased them from sewvacdirect.com for $20-30, plus shipping.

Bobbin stuck on bobbin winder, how do I get it off? it will not budge!

Is thread under bobbin? can you turn it? can you pull the thread off the bobbin and then remove it? Bobbin that comes with machine may not be right one. Right one has a light blue tint and a slightly domed top.
