When I start up Samsung dp500a2d desktop it was showing up for a second then went jet black. Over next couple times it wouldn't even show at all. I noticed a popping sound when I push the source button sometimes too. It isn't registering the mouse or keyboard. No key commands worked either to try getting screen up

SOURCE: black screen keeps popping up

If a black box appears on the screen, and a small amount of the picture is visible around the border, it means that your closed captions are on and set to TEXT. Go back into the menu, navigate to the closed captions page and set the captions to OFF.

SOURCE: Monitor Issue: 5 seconds of picture the monitor goes black.

I had this similar problem. I found out that there was a bad 1000uf, 16V cap on the power supply board. The cap is too close to a heat sink and over heated. I bought the cap at radio shack for $2, installed it so that it is far away from the heat sink. Monitor now stays on when powered up.

These monitors are difficult to open.

After removing the stand, you need to insert a flat screw driver at the bottom of the screen where two slots are located. Then work the screw driver around until the two plastic pieces are separated. Remove the cover plate and unscrew the push buttons. Unplug the monitor cords from the driver board. Unscrew the mounting screws from the power supply board and remove. You will need to pinch the plastic support in the middle of the board to remove. Unsolder the cap. It is located near a copper heat sink and the value will be on the cap. It will be buldged up on the top. You will see burn marks on the board surrounding the cap. Install the new cap and solder. Be careful not to solder across joints.

Reassemble and turn on. Should solve the problem

SOURCE: menu screen is black

That sounds like your video card is going out on your computer. You will have to get that replaced and then things will work properly.

SOURCE: I have a Rheem Prestige

Dang that simply sounds to me like a contaminated flame sensor. Junk gets on the sensor and the resistance won't change quick enough for the control to confirm ignition. Get a dry brillo pad and clean that ******. here is a video:

I have a Samsung Sync Master 731BF and when I switch it on, the power light stays on but the image is black and wont show any picture whatsoever.

Hook a spare monitor to the computer to rule out the Video Graphics Card in the computer, if okay! It is the Samsung, "power supply issues" bad capacitors, sometimes show a bulge at top. But to be on the safe side replace the video cord from the computer to the monitor if possible.

Hi
Pop into to your local garage and have a diagnostic test carried out.
Listen to the advise given. It may save you lots of money, especially if you start the "guessing" game.
It does sound like a part may be blocked or failed though, but the sytem needs to be tested thoroughly first.
Good luck

Try start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back.

The l226wtq goes black

Try shining a flashlight on the screen, or without the flashlight, try to see if you can distinguish anything on the screen at all, if you do, the backlight is dead, or the monitor has an internal most likely unfixable problem.

Monitor went black in seconds

oboy, One thing to try is the flashlight test. and get backto me with your findings. Tell me, does this lcd show a nice display only for 1-2 seconds and then a black screen when connected to a fully booted PC with Windows desktop displayed? Shine a bright flashlight 1-2 inches from panel and tell me if you see the WINDOWS START Button at lower left of screen even though screen is black! Get back to me if you can. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel @ aol.com BYE for now.

Monitor goes black but green light still on.

The problem with the Mag lt916s is that it is made with cheap capacitors. If you are interesnted it is a cheap and easy fix. Open it up, which is the hardest part. And replace the six 470uf 105 degree 25v capacitors and maybe even the smaller 220uf one next to them. You will see a bump on the top of bad capacitors most of the time. There are some videos to watch on Youtube showing you how to make the repair.
Good luck
