There is a rest and deep rinse cycle in the program that stops the machine for a period
other than that have a technician check the program board

I would recommend getting the service manual for your model as some models have clutches that control spin and others have belts. The service manual would be the best route if you are planning on repairing this yourself. If you would like the service manual let me know and I will post a link to where you can get one emailed to you.

sounds like you need to replace your lid switch asssy part number 285671, unit not recognizing the door closed so for safetyreasons stops after first rinse and wont drain/spin. your tripping the switch by bangin on it

SOURCE: whirlpool 6th sense front load washing machine

I have the same problem. Stops randomly during the cycle and turning off the power for a second re-starts it.

I think it is one of the sensors is faulty - for example the sensor that detects if the load is un-balanced, or if the machine has enough water.

Seems to be a common poblem for these machines.

I'm going to try to find which one later today.

I have a whirlpool washer model WTW4800XQ1. It spins but doesn't drain. I taken apart all hoses...no clog. The water will drain through the pump when the unit is unplugged. Is there a way

it sounds like the pump does the water run out when the outlet pipe is laid flat on the floor or below the machine's height level? if so then the pump will need to be checked out

My whirlpool washing machine wont stop filling with water after the wash cycle

your post is vauge

does it over flow
you mean it wont stop the rinse cycle

did you check it for a reset
do a factory reset

the machine will fill with water until the flow sensor and level has filled

so check and clean the machine

i find a couple of dishwasher cleaner tabs thru it first will clean all the flows and pipes and use a 60 deg long wash for whites
i think all the electro is aok so must be dirt
