I had this same problem. I removed the battery and then unplugged it for about a half an hour. When I plugged it back in, I had to reset the date, time, year, time zone and alarm times, but the alarms now work!!

To fix the projection display that is stuck with four 8's, hold down the hour and miute button at the same time. Keep the buttons pressed down while unplugging the power source then pluging it back it. I did this and the screen works like it did when I first got it.

How to set the time & alarm for SI564

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman";} After several unsuccessful attempts to locate a user manual for this clock radio, I discovered for myself how to set the time and the alarm for this model by trial & error. Hope this tip helps others!

Press the MODE button located on the top of the clock. The screen blinks the hour with "AL HOUR?" specified. Press the SELECT button to go forward or the PRESET button to go backward. Press the MODE button again to set the "AL MINUTE?" Subsequent presses of the Mode button scrolls through AL BUZZER, AL VOLUME, HOUR, MINUTE, DUAL HOUR, 12/24 HR, YEAR, MONTH, DATE, temp F or C, AREA features. It seems that the clock saves the last setting you made once you stop pressing any buttons.

Set the alarm

Hold down Alarm Set for about 5 seconds until the time flashes, then just press the hour and minute buttons until the time you want is shown. Remember that the pm light WILL come on if you need the alarm set for the evening.

Setting alarm

Alarm can only be set or disabled when the power in "Standby" mode. The manual refers to it as power "off" mode, but the LCD display will still be readable only darker. To set the alarm push the Standby button until the sound stops and the LCD is dark. Then push the AL SET button (which doubles as the volume down button when the power is "on"). The hour should start flashing. Adjust the hour by using the two buttons at the bottom on the right side just above the IR sensor. Once you've set the hour, push the AL SET button again and similarly adjust the minutes until you have the right time that you want the alarm to go off. Now push the AL SOURCE button (which also doubles as the function button when the power is "on") to toggle between Radio, CD, iPod or buzzer for your alarm. After you're satisfied that the time is right and the source is right push the AL SET button again. The LCD should still be dark, but should also show the word "ALARM" in the upper left hand corner.
To set the unit so the alarm doesn't go off push the "Standby" button until the sound stops and the LCD is dark. Push the AL SET button until the hour is flashing. Don't bother to adjust the time, just push the AL SOURCE button until none of the following appear: CD, iPod, Radio, Buzzer. As you push the AL SOURCE button it will toggle between these options. Once you're sure none of them appear on the left of the display, click the AL SET button again. The LCD should still be dark, and you should not see the word "ALARM" in the upper left hand corner.
