I have a 450 reliant hydraulic lift and one of the brakes is stuck tight on the caster. How can I release it ?

Sounds like you have a bad brake line, try to bleed off and replace line.

new piston seal possibly not seated correctly and has rolled out of position not allowing piston to return to place once pressure is released.. remove and examine and check condition of seal.

are you talking about the e-brakes not releasing. if so what year make model is this car. it could be the e-brake cables seized or stuck in the on position. if someone can pull on the brake release then someone else reach under the car and pull on the brake cable it may come loose. the oil pressure you say you have at the wheels I`m guessing your talking about the brake hydraulic fluid.

if your mechanical minded you can release it with a flat blade screw driver but it will be tight ,you need to release the tention by pushing hard on the pedal ( or use 2 people) and you will see how the ratchet locks the pedal pry up on it while you slowly lift the pedal up .

Have you confirmed that the front brake is the actual problem? If it is, it means that the hydraulic pressure is not releasing when you let go of the lever or the caliper itself is sticking on its mount or the piston in the caliper is stuck. To check for a hydraulic condition, apply the brake hard, release it and open the bleeder; if fluid spurts out, the hydraulic pressure isn't releasing and the first item to suspect would be the rubber brake line having an internal collapse. If that test shows the hydraulic pressure is releasing, take the caliper off and press the piston in as if you were changing the brake pads. If the piston retracts smoothly, you can rule it out as the cause of the sticking. Lastly, while the caliper is out, check the sliding surfaces and make sure they're all clean. Apply some brake grease on the sliding surfaces to ensure they don't bind and reassemble. Safe riding.

Did your lift kit come with new extended brake lines?
You mentioned the brakes feel like they are "on" and you can't pump up your pedal anymore.That makes me think that like most lift kits,nothing is provided to re-locate the rear rubber brake line that is mounted to the top of the rear differential. It may be stretched so far that it's kinked on both ends allowing fluid to the rear brakes thru hydraulic pressure but not being allowed to release on it's own. Just a thought. Good Luck!
