My printer is hungup on deleting a print job. It is in a "delete" status and has been that way for 23 hours. I repeat the cancel button nothing happens. No other documents can print.

i wanted to cancell a print job and i cancelled a print job by selecting and cancelling. Under status it shows deleting P.
but actually it is not deleted. without deleting this i am unable to
print the second job. How to solve this?
Hi,
I assume you've turned everything off and back on again, including the printer and the job is still stuck.
For windows XP,
click on the start button, click on run
type
net stop spoolsv
click OK
wait 30 seconds
click on the start button, click on run
type
net start spoolsv
click OK
Open the printer and refresh the print queue, has the job cleared?
If not we will need to clear the temporary spool files from the spool folder.
click on the start button, click on run
type
net stop spoolsv
click OK
The usual path to the spool folder is C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\PRINTERS,
Delete the files in this folder only, if you are not sure do not delete them.
Close this window.
click on the start button, click on run
type
net start spoolsv
click OK
Alternatively, if you are comfortable using the run command, do the following in sequence. Be very careful what you type *.* means everything in the folder.
net stop spooler del %SYSTEMROOT%\system32\spool\PRINTERS\*.* /q /f net start spooler
Have you tried unpluging your printer from the computer as well as unpluging the printer from the electrical? If that doesn't work you should start from scratch... that is remove the printer from the computer memory, delete it, turn off the computer, turn on the computer and go through the installation process as if you just purchased the printer. Barring any mechanical problems as in jams or the such, the printer should return to operational status.
To cancel a print job in Windows you can use one of the following two methods:
CANCELLING A PRINT JOB WITH THE PROGRESS METER: When you send a print job to the printer, the Status Monitor will appear in the bottom right corner of your screen. Another printer icon for the PROGRESS METER will also appear in the taskbar while printing is taking place. This PROGRESS METER is there so you can manage print priorities or cancel print jobs.
1. Highlight the print job in the PROGRESS METER box. 2. Click on DOCUMENT and CANCEL, or, right click on the job name and left click CANCEL or DELETE. 3. Confirm cancelling the print job.
CANCELLING A PRINT JOB FROM THE PRINTERS WINDOW: If no PROGRESS METER appears, you can access the document queue in this fashion:
1. Open START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS (START, CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS and FAXES in Windows XP). 2. Right click on your Epson printer name, left click PURGE PRINT JOBS (98,ME), or CANCEL ALL DOCUMENTS (2000,XP). (Or, double-click on the printer name to see and modify the status of documents in queue.) 3. Confirm cancelling all documents.
Keep in mind that once information has been sent to the printer it resides in the spooling folders within Windows. It may a while for printing to stop as this data clears the system.
If the printer continues to print (ie multiple copies of a cancelled job, or garbled print) remove the rest of the paper from the printer and allow it to run out. Once an "out of paper" type error appears on your screen, cancel the documents. Once all print job information has deleted, reload the paper and press the paper feed button once to clear the red light and return the printer to a ready state.
Follow these steps to resolve the issue.
Step one: Delete the print queue
Open Print Setup Utility located in the Application/Utilities folder.
Double-click your printer in the printer list to open the print queue.
Click the Stop Jobs icon.
Click to select the document, and then click the Delete icon. Repeat the steps for all the jobs in the print queue.
When the print queue is empty, click the Start Jobs icon. A message appears: No Jobs Printing . This indicates that the queue is clear.
When you have cleared the queue, retry your print job. If the procedure has not resolved the issue, repeat steps 3 and 4. If the issue still persists, continue to the next step.
Step two: Remove the printer from the list
Open Print Setup Utility , located in the Application/Utilities folder.
Click to select the Photosmart icon.
Click the red X to delete the printer from your system.
Close all open windows, and restart your computer.
Step three: Add the printer to the list
Open Print Setup Utility located in the Application/Utilities folder.
Click Add .
Select the printer that you want to add, and click the Add button.
After a few seconds, your printer appears in the printer list, and your printer is ready to print.
