I have an Alba 14 colour t.v,cannot change channels on remote,stuck on BBC1.

Try the keys on the set I would think there is a menu key there on the set to help get you out of favorite channels. Universal remotes don't always work as thought should be and usually onthe the devices remote will access all functions. Is our remote dead or busted? Try opening it up look for bad solder on the circuit board clean the switch contacts on the the board it may just fix it

try a remote reset by pressing every single button on the remote starting from the very top left hand button and pressing every single button - if that dont work ring the helpline with your reciept and they can sort you out from there.

Not sure if you found the problem for this, but I had the same problem and couldn't find any reference to this except your question so thought I would put up an answer in case it can help you or anyone else.

Aparently, Alba have got hold of the codes that Toshiba use for their remote controls, so if you have a Toshiba telly an Alba product like this won't work. The only solution being to return it and get a different make.

I returned mine twice for a straight exchange thinking it was just a manufacture fault before I found this out. I then exchanged it for a Bush set top box - only a fiver more - and it now works PERFECT!
