1 Check if the holes in the hand held shower are not clogged with scum which generally happens over prolonged use. Clean them with a pin. 2 If this does not help, then check the the pipe connecting the shower to the water outlet. It should be clean and not clogged with foreign material which restricts the flow of water. 3 It still it does not help then you may have to fix a booster pump or raise the level of the water reservoir.

If it leaks continuously during use, verify that a rubber washer was used in that connection and that the connection is tight.
If it only leaks after the water is shut-off, there is a vacuum breaker installed there, which prevents water from siphoning back into your water system. It is normal for water to drain at this connection when the water is shut off.

Usually whenever you do any repairs on plumbing, you dislodge calcium from the inner surfaces of teh plumbing. Check to see if ther is a mesh filter in the inlet side of the head. and remove and clean it. otherwise you could remove it and use a vacuum yo try and remove any deposit that may be in it. If that is unsuccessful,
you can always return it, but always remember to open the fawcett and run it before installing the head.
This is an essential part of any plumbing job. Good luck
. If your local store refuse to replace it Moen will gladly do so with no problem.
