You have a vert sweep problem and unless you know how to trouble shoot this cuircit bring it to a pro. I found out mostly in these sets that the vert output IC is bad.. Also sometimes the b+ filter cap off the fly is leaky and made the IC to fail. Another thing is Im surprised to hear you got a pic with the vert failure and a bright line in the pic!! This could be a big problem when the sets fixed so dont run it too long like this. It could burn a line all the way across the screen and you will see a dark faint line in your pic because of this. BE CAREFULL!!

I have some good news and some bad news for you. First the bad news. the LCD panel in your unit is damaged beyond what 95% of people could fix at home. what has basically happened is the very very thin signalling cables that run around the edge of the screen is damaged. your only option is to replace the panel, which can be a major hassle unless you are very comfortable with a screwdriver and have at least disassembled laptops and know what the parts are.
Bad news as well, part is about $150.
good news. most shops can do this repair for you, esp. if they deal with laptops.
I can give you the replacement info if you wish to attempt it yourself, but as i said, it can be a hard repair to do.

sounds like your dmd module. its the part of your optical block that processes the images that make up what is projected on your screen.. without a model # i can't tell you the part #
