Windows 10 is great but the forced upgrades are ridiculous. As far as I can tell there is no known way to permanently disable the updates. If you disable the update service, there are scheduled tasks that run regularly to re-enable them. If you cancel the scheduled tasks, as soon as you reboot your computer they get added back. The possible solution is that there should be a registry key you can set to alert you that windows 10 updates are available instead of automatically installing them.

    ridiculous. why say that>?>
YOU CAN not do that, and you hack the registry
    MS then changes it.
the only way to do this is to block or unplug the internet cable or wifi airplane mode'

you can delay it up to 365days now,
if updated to newest version build. oops.
learn that w10 has evolved now over 10 versions. to now.
and they have a better set of features now
    longer delays
and even asks you NOW, do you want to update now or delay, in real time usage
you can see do it at 10pm, and click OK

see? w10 rules back in 2015 have evolved
and not version told by you.
    mine is 20h2.
which w10 do you have.? IDK.

read. this, on topic same, from Horses mouth.

bills answer is wrong and dated
all that has changed, the bit about
auto updates are forced, no they are not in truth. they can be delayed
you can even tell the OS , only update at time of shut down. (or startup or even omg a time of day)
learn how the 20h2 version works first.
    then speak.
what HOME version does, IDK , id never touch that mess.

    or pull the internet cable,
the OS kernel does that, and you can not hack the kernel, at all.
They are in control NOT YOU. see?
    since 2015.

you can RUN this, I use this for vast years.
just 1 app does it all , or what can be done
    O&0 shut up.
    see section windows update there.

if it can be done it would be easy
for sure, and millions of hackers are not fooled, are they?, no they are not.
learn to use gPedit on topic.
    google how.
    group policy editor.
its all there, inside. (delay you can)
i have driver updates off, for 5 years now.
only windows OS updates are forced but can be delayed for 365 days, if you read.

if you read old posts of hacker hacking windows for 5 years,+ guess what those things do not work now, the OS evolved. 20h2.
learn to post what version you run. if the 11.

    even months long.
w10 pro has GPedit is way.

    there is no OFF,
they told you that 6 year ago
and is still true today, if you do find a hack and then post it MS will block it next week, you are NOT In control at all to this level at all. forget 1981 to 2015 those days are now gone.

It can be disabled completely, but you probably only want to disable Windows software updates, and continue the Windows OS updates. Both options are shown here:

Problem with Windows 8.1 updates.

Windows 10 will only install if you have all the earlier updates
sometimes hundreds of updates are missed.
even if it says no upgrades and is green
always click on check for updates, service packs and versions of internet explorer will be installed, However if you dont want to see the upgrade to 10 you can always turn off auto updates and check yourself when you have the time to install them yourself.

  • Exit Windows Update, wait 10 to 15 minutes, and then restart Windows Update to check for updates.
