SOURCE: BADGER GARBAGE DISPOSAL just humms. does not work.

It sounds like the disposer has something jamming it. Try using the breaker wrench supplied with the disposer (or a suitable-size hex wrench) fitted into the socket on the bottom. Rock the wrench back and forth to see if you can loosen the jam. Another trick is to use a wooden rod (end of a broom handle, for example) to push on the blade to try dislodging the jam. Look inside with a flashlight to see if there is something that is easily missed. (I have found drink can tabs, coins and a shelf clip that way.)

It's also possible the motor starting capacitor inside the disposer or the motor itself is bad, in which case you would probably spend less on a new disposer than on repairing this one. But a jam is more likely.

SOURCE: garbage disposal leak

Don to install a new one.
don't think it is a DYI and by the time you call for service it would be cheaper and use your DIY.
Hope this is a FixYa

SOURCE: humming noise when turn on insinkerator badger 5XP

Your disposal is stuck. Sounds like something either fell in it, or perhaps a bone got inadvertantly tossed in. Do you own an allen wrench set? The garbage disposal did originally come with one, but it usually gets lost. The one that came with it will look like two hockey stick stuck together. In any event, you need one for the fix. There is a hole on the bottom of the disposal, directly in the center. Find the correct size allen wrench and place in this hole. Twist clockwise and counter clockwise until it is free. Once this is done, you most likely will need to hit the reset button on the bottom. Good luck!

The badger 5 has just stoped working

There are three possible things.
1) Circuit breaker tripped
2) Wall switch gone bad
3) Reset button tripped on disposal
Reset is located near where wire connects to disposal

MY BADGER INSINKERATOR XP IS NOT SPINNING AND THE RESET BUTTON IS NOT RESETTING. WHAT WRONG.

It sounds like the garbage disposal has a fatal short, and the reset won't push in because there is an electrical failure inside the unit.

Did you reset the circuit breaker on the disposal? There should be a button on the bottom of the disposal unit.

Our SinkErasor Badger 5 doesn't work.Wrenchette can't be rotated

MAKE SURE THERE'S NO STUFF INSIDE THE DISPOSAL. PUSH RED RESET BUTTON, (USUALLY UNDERNEATH OR ON SIDE) IF THERE IS ONE. THE DISPOSAL ALSO CAN BE TURNED USING A 1/4INCH ALLEN WRENCH. USUALLY INSERTED IN BOTTOM UNDERNEATH OF DISPOSAL.

The motor on my Badger 5 disposal was humming but not rotating. I cleaned out all the debris, reset it and now there's nothing - no hum, nothing. Is my badger dead?

The badger 5 has a dislodge device on the bottom right in the very center. An allen wrench will fit if you have lost the tool that came with it.

FIrts you will need to dislodge anything preventing it from turning. (Insert the right size allen wrench and turn both directions) The remove whatever comes loose after dislodging.

Then opush the red reset button on the bottom. Check the breaker that powers up the disposal, as you may have tripped it.

If the breaker is on, the unit is turning freely, and the reset button is pushed, then the next step is to check for power using a volt meter, to make sure the disposal is indeed getting power. If all the above has been done, the unit IS getting power then yes, the disposal needs to be replaced.
