If you push the button one more time to flip the screen it should read properly, otherwise bounce it off of a mirror and adjust the keystone if it is a permanent mount.
It sounds like a polarising lens has failed, if so it will probably be cheaper to buy a new NEC NP115 which has probably got the same if not better specification.
