It was still watering Friday afternoon and had a good amount of flooding. Turned the timer to the off position, however, water continued to run. Turned off sprinkler system water supply to get water to stop flowing. Could this be an indication that he timer is bad or just a coincidence of a second failed solenoid?
Replace the timer/controller as your timer is still calling for water and not shutting off

You need to determine whether the problem is in the solenoid or in the furnace electronics. You could put a voltmeter on the solenoid connection to see if the furnace is still holding the solenoid open after the blower stops. This will tell you whether it is the solenoid or not.

tidalwave If the water continues to flow even when the washer timer and the power to the washer are off then you are right and the water inlet valve has to be replaced. If it does it only when the washer is on then it could be different problems. In that case the first thing you have to check is the water level switch. This is the device which controls the water level. Remove the power first.Open the control panel and you will see the switch on the left side. There is the clear plastic hose connected to the switch. Make sure the hose is not loose. This is one of the most common cause of overflow. If it got loose, drain out all water from the washer before you reconnect the hose. If this is not the issue then you have to check the continuity across the water level switch therminals. When there is no water you should measure the continuity across therminals 11 and 12 (gray and orange wires). Whet the tub has filled up with water you should measure the continuity across therminals 11 and 14 (gray and light blue wires). If the continuity is wrong replace the water level switch. If you are going to do it, make sure there is no water in the tub before you will remove the clear plastic hose from the old switch. Good luck. Gendos. post back...

Are you on a well? Often people with a lot of sediment in water get sick of the screens in water valve plugging up so they remove them. NEVER remove these screens. If any sediment gets into valve it can hold it open causing flooding. If you unplug unit and water still comes in you must replace valve.

there is a pressure stat but these are reliable. a common fault is the wiring loom broken where it goes round the corner at the bottom of the door. take outer door panel off and inspect the wiring loom for breakage

I had the same problem and went out to a website for Maytag washers. That website advised that the problem could be mechanical or electrical. In my case, the problem was a clogged tube and it took only ten or fifteen minutes to fix.
0. Unplug the machine.
1. Open up the front of the washer. Along the left hand side is a long transparent tube. The tube connects to a wallet size container on the side and near the bottom of the tub.
2. Inspect the transparent tube. It may be clogged where the tube meets the wallet sided container.
Note: When the tub is full, it creates pressure in that wallet size compartment which sends air up that tube to a pressure switch located within the panel at the top of the washer. The pressure switch flips and tells the machine - stop filling the tub with water. My machine had a visible clog in the bottom of the tube that carries the air from the bottom of the tub up to the pressure switch.
3. Disconnect the tube and clean. I used a pipecleaner to get most of the mold out. To completely clear the tube, remove the top panel and disconnect the tube from the pressure switch in the top panel and blow air down the tube.
4. Reconnect, test - and you should be good to go. If not, your pressure switch may be dead.
If it only one head/zone that does not work, it may be that you have a bad solenoid for that head/zone. Check the solenoid for any visual hints that the solenoid has failed, such as rust, and recheck that all wire connections are still waterproof. Another possibility may be the transformer, check is the resistance if you see an infinite reading then it will need to be replaced. Hi John Kovach, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box? Replace control valve with a new one. It is a balanced valve and requires the water to get to top of diaphragm to close valve.. I had to replace all my control valves after many years of service. The cost of parts outweigh the price of new valve.
