The heating coil is most likely burned out. Since you did not post the make and model that is all I can tell you

SOURCE: my dryer wont heat up when it drying

Your issue is as follows:
"the dryer works but there is no heat to dry the clothes. model no/stock no- 86983100-69831 kenmore ultra fabric care soft heat dryers"

Based on the information provided above, I am unable to provide a positive solution to your issue. Your model number is invalid. I have provided some common solutions to help guide you in your search.

Following this link, http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SmartSearch.aspx, provides valuable D.I.Y. safety information on the make and model number of your appliance. In order to access your product information, you will need to enter the model number stamped on the manufacturers product information data tag, located on the unit, and not in the User’s Manual.

Note: A volt-ohm meter is beneficial in performing electrical tests.

This information is for an electric, generic model dryer only!

My Solution is:
If your dryer doesn't heat, check these:
Temperature Switch; make sure a positive heat selection has been made, if still no heat, then check these:

Power from the house
Heating element
Thermal fuse
Wiring
Power from the house: Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element: Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse: On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring: A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

SOURCE: my GE Profile Harmony dryer wont dry clothes

I finally had a GE authorized tech come to our house, because we've had the same problem on and off for about 2 yrs. Our's is 5 1/2 yrs old, and the problem was the blower motor, which is hard to get to, and the nut holding the fan in place is also put on going the "opposite" direction. (So lefty loosey, righty tighty doesn't work for this one) The Tech told me in all his years he has never replaced a heater in any of these, and it has 2. The usual problem is the blower motor has gone bad. It's working great now, and it was $470 to fix, but still cheaper than a new one....

SOURCE: Dryer heats up but doesn't dry clothes...

It's not your heating element. Your venting system is clogged. Like mine was. You'll need to take care of this ASAP and from then on at least once a year. It is a fire hazard. Not only that if left this way It can kill your heating element.

Dryer wont heat for more than 10 minutes when cold

did you clean the vent line?THAT COULD MAKE IT RUN HOT THE AIR CAN'T BLOW OUTSIDE,BUT WITH THE DRYER HAVING HEAT WHEN IT STARTS AND THEN AFTER LIKE 10 MINUTES NO HEAT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE BAD GAS COILS,WHEN THE COILS ARE STARTING TO FAIL THEY WILL WORK FOR LIKE THE FIRST 10 TO 20 MINUTES AND WHEN THEY HEAT UP NO GAS,WHEN THE COOL THEY WILL WORK AGAIN,I WOULD CHANGE THE COILS AND CLEAN OUT THE DRYER AND VENT LINE,THIS SHOULD BE DONE ONCE A YEAR SO YOU DON'T HAVE A FIRE AND YOUR CLOTHES WILL DRY ON TIME,EVERYONE THINKS SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE DRYER AND ALL THAT HAPPENS IS THE VENT LINE AND THE DUCT WHERE THE LINT FILTER SLIDES INTO FILLS WITH LINT AND THE AIR CAN'T BLOW AROUND GOOD ANYMORE,ALSO WITH A SHOP VAC VAC UP THE LINT WHERE THE BURNER AND MOTOR IS AND THEN SET THE VAC UP TO BLOW AND BLOW THE MOTOR AND GAS BURNER OUT,DO THIS AND YOU'LL HARDLY HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE DRYER

The dryer wont heat up the clothes dont get dry everything eles works on it the drum turns ok the timer works also it just wont dry the clothes

Hello,Sam

The usual reason a dryer will heat yet not dry the clothes is going to be a air flow problem. What ya need to check is for a blocked vent and or lint build up in the blower assambly.

By far though a leading cause of that on Maytag dryers is a broken blower wheel and therefore no warm air is being drawnthrough the clothes,to check that remove the front panel and the front drum support and in the lower left corner will be the blower asm. check to see if it moves free and doesnt seem to be attached to the motor shaft.

Dryer turns on and runs but does not heat up or dry clothes. Dryer is Whirlpool Cabrio and only about 6 months old and still under warranty

Check your breaker, by turning FULLY off and back on. Check for good air flow at the rear of the machine, and the same at the exit of the building.....
