The water is not running through the dishwasher. It sounds like everything else is working fine but when I open the door at the end of the cycle, there is dried dish soap everywhere and the dishes are still dirty.

I have the same problem--water is not washing the dishes, even though water is filling the washer tub. It also makes a mess of the detergent. Have you had the problem resolved?

Dishwasher stopping mid-cycle, water left in bottom, sometimes detergent dispenser does not open.

Man I love posts like yours. Makes answering easier.

In short, yes. You probably are right that the dishwasher is aborting mid-cycle, but the why is a tricky question. There are wet parts inside as well as moving parts and high temperature. It is possible your control electronics are being exposed to moisture mid-cycle, causing the dishwasher to cut out. This would have been easy to spot by the technician though. An alternate theory could be that the dishwasher's door sensor is stating that the dishwasher gets opened mid cycle due to all the shaking around. This wouldn't have been picked up by your technician and would cause the dishwasher to effectively "pause" itself without draining or using soap. Check and make sure the door is latched securely and see if it's easy to trigger the door sensor (pull gently on the door while the dishwasher is running).

Unfortunately, the best answer I have for investigation is to "babysit." Grab your laptop, pop in a movie, get a nice drink, and plop yourself down next to the dishwasher once you set it to run. The moment it stops working properly, take a look at everything you can.

Greetings,

in most instances the water inlet valve is leaking..this is the water valve that brings water into the dishwasher...its possible, the drain water is running back into the d/w from the drain hose not installed properly...or there is a valve that lets water only go one way..this could be stuck open from food or object.....Bruce Denton

We use the Cascade tablets but they don't dissolve

Either:

1. the water does not get into the dishwasher open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.

Good luck,

Dishwasher wan't fill with water

The water valve may look fine but the solenoid may not be opening to allow water in. You said that everything else works fine except no water supply to the dishwasher. This sounds like a bad soleniod valve. Check for continuity on the valve with an ohms meter after you start it. Be careful.

Whirlpool Dishwasher won't drain during normal cycle

As you say a clogged line or valve does not make sense.

Try running it without the heated drying and see if it empties or if the cancel button will work then.

The dishes should air dry quickly if you empty it and open the door.

It could be a defective thermostat allowing it to get too hot during the heat cycle

Soap packets don't melt/disolve

sounds as if you amy have a problem with the dispensor door not opening correctly perhaps opening at end of cycle when all water is already released.Ive seen that sometimes the "tabs" or "packets of detegent are too tall and interfere with normal opening of the latch mechanism. manufacture would reccommend using powder instead.

it's the door switch gone bad or the wire going to it has fallen off.
