4057-026 user guide wants to use to steam a dress but not sure how

several ways to steam a materiial
sprinkle water on the material and then use a hot dry iron
sprinkle water on the material and place a cloth ( handkerchief ) over it then use a dry hot iron
use a steam iron over the cloth
use the steam iron direct on the material
It all depends on the material that you want to iron
of course you have to read the label first to see if it can be ironed

No steam

Have you checked the steam ports for calcium build up?

Build up of deposits when steam iron is used, how do you get iron apart ?

You might be able to clean out your steam iron by putting vinegar in instead of water. It has worked on my steam iron as well as my coffee pot.

Steam advantage iron has no steam coming out when ironing. Reservoir is full of water. some calcification showing on irons bottoms holes

you would probably get a better response if you didn't post your problem with your iron as a problem with your vacuum!

There appears to be a yellowy brown discharge that appears on my shirts when I iron. It doesn't happen all the time. How do I fix this?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly
Your iron is building up calcium deposits inside the reservoir and occasionally they flake off and into the steam system along with any minor releases of steam and it is showing up on your garments. There are commercial products in the market place for cleaning your iron.

This is one product:

This is another one:
Siege Chemical 776L Steam Iron and Showerhead Cleaner
It can be purchased from this page:

I have a stirella dual steam iron. At present it is constantly steaming even though the steam button is not clicked in place. How can I fix this?

It sounds like the steam valve inside the iron is stuck open. You have to take the iron apart and free it up by lightly scraping water deposits off it with a screwdriver.

My iron seams to have run out of steam - it is a 2800w and the steam is so slight. How could I get this iron "calc cleaned" as I think that may solve the problem

It sounds like the holes on the bottom are clogged up. Take a pin and make sure the holes are clear then run the iron on high to have the steam force the rust out.

I was getting ready to iron a pair of pants that were polyesterrayon and 4% spandex. I thought I had my Rowenta iron turned down low enough but when I placed the iron on the pants they melted. Well...

First, UNPLUG THE IRON. DO THIS PART COLD. Clean the soleplate with scotch brite and WD-40. Next, you will have to remove the WD-40 residue from the soleplate with something like windex. Make sure you get around the steam holes.
Next-Plug it in and fill it with 50-50 mix of water and white vinegar. Set it for steam and let it run through. Refill it with plain water and steam it out again, until there is NO VINEGAR SMELL. This will clean the deposits out of the tank and steam vents.
